After Udta Punjab courted controversy with its apparently
negative portrayal of Punjab and the people living in the state, it's time for
forthcoming movie Dishoom to get a taste of the same, it seems.
The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has written
to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for imposing a ban on 'Ishaq
Ka Marz' song in forthcoming Hindi movie 'Dishoom' on the grounds that the song
depicts a skimpily-clad Jacqueline Fernandez dancing with a 'kirpan' - one of
the five articles of faith of Sikhs - dangling in front of her legs and
supported by a belt worn around the waist by her. The Committee has claimed
that the song insults the religious sentiments of Sikhs and as such, should be
deleted from the film.
The Sikh body has also sought an apology from the director
of movie for hurting Sikh sentiments, failing which, they plan to initiate
criminal proceedings against the producer, director and actress of the movie
and CBFC.
