Conscious effort is being made by writers to improve the quality of cinema, says Amitabh Bachchan!

Celebrity Amitabh Bachchan, who lately featured in much-admired "Pink", on women's rights and addressing the problem they face in day to day life, believes that today a "conscious effort is being made by writers to improve the quality of cinema".

"The kind of work most of the writers are doing these days is phenomenal. Keeping in mind the taste of the audience today and other kind of entertainment that has come into our lives from all over the world... thanks to the TV and Internet.  The need to compete with it almost every day and how to get the audiences away from environments of their homes and bring them to the theatre... and they are happy seeing whatever they are seeing on their TV and perhaps they see better quality and therefore there has been a conscious effort by our word-makers to improve the quality and the kind of cinema," Amitabh told at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit on Friday.

The superstar, who was being interviewed by filmmaker Karan Johar, also believes that the viewers too has matured now.

"There has been a great maturity from the audience in terms of their taste, that is being reflected on the stories which are being written," he told later.

Need of prosthetics to transform Ranbir Kapoor into to Sanjay Dutt!

Now Ranbir Kapoor has been gearing up for his Rajkumar Hirani film - the Sanjay Dutt biopic. News has it that the team is taking great pains to have Ranbir look like Sanjay Dutt.

As per a famous tabloid, Rajkumar Hirani's adept artists have taken the help of prosthetics, make-up, and hairstyling to transform Ranbir Kapoor into Sanjay Dutt. Ranbir is seemingly getting a makeover to look much older and to resemble the tough Dutt.

The movie which is a sequel to the 2013 super hit Jolly LLB starring Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani, is directed by Subhash Kapoor and releases in February 2017.

While a Salman film will open to 30 crores, no leading actress will cross a certain number, says Karan Johar!

Filmmaker Karan Johar is glad and content with the performance of his much anticipated movie Ae Dil Hain Mushkil. While speaking to a famous tabloid, he spoke about his movies, life and the bias between male and female stars in the industry.

When questioned if the Hindi film industry is sexist, Karan told, "It is, but it is also true that men command more money at the box office. A Salman movie will open to Rs 30 crore and no matter which leading actress you take they will not cross a certain number. That power comes from the audience. So blame it on the audience."

He further added, "Up to the 1960s, women had solid roles. In Guru Dutt, Bimal Roy or Raj Kapoor's time, women like Nargis, Meena Kumari, Sadhna, Nutan were as important as heroes. Male domination happened with Amitabh Bachchan, then a few other male stars in the late '70s and '80s. Then it became a norm. Only men got lead roles. Few women could break the shackles in mainstream cinema, like Rekha did with Khoon Bhari Maang. It was tough. The equity built by men in that time has benefited men today. That era gave birth to Salman, Shah Rukh and Aamir in 1988-'91. They became the next phase of superstardom, and with Akshay Kumar are still big stars who pull the economics."

He further told, "The audience has got tuned to it now. It's like your digestion system getting used to a certain meal given to you every day."

Hrithik goes for a rib-tickling comedy without Shuddhi now!

There were reports that Karan Malhotra would be working on the Karan Johar movie Shuddhi once the star cast has been finalized. Well, it seems now that the movie could very well be shelved as the two Karans are to work on a hilarious comedy along with none other than Hrithik Roshan.

A famous tabloid reported a source as telling, "“Karan has kept the script for Shuddhi aside, and he’s planning a comedy movie soon. The director has met junior Roshan and narrated the story.

The actor has quite liked the idea but still hasn’t confirmed yet. The movie is to be produced by Karan Johar."

Malhotra himself commented on this telling, "I don’t want to confirm anything as of now. It’s too early. Karan Johar will announce it very soon."

I would like to work with Raju sir (Hirani) in whatever capacity I can, says Sonam Kapoor!

Actress Sonam Kapoor tells that she can't give confirmation about any of her future projects till the time the director or producer approve it but she would like to work with Rajkumar Hirani soon.

It has been stated that Hirani has zeroed in on Sonam Kapoor to play an actor from the 1980s and 1990s in Sanjay Dutt's biopic, opposite Ranbir Kapoor.

When she was questioned about that, she told, "That you've to ask Raju sir. I can't talk about any of my upcoming films till the director or producer speaks about it."

"However I would like to work with Raju sir (Hirani) in whatever capacity I can," she further added.

The actress, who essayed an inspiring role in Ram Madhvani's directorial "Neerja, tells that doing that movie was important for her.

"It is very humbling that people expect me to get the National Award for 'Neerja' but honestly speaking, I will not be saddened if I don't get it. Because doing the film itself is very important to me," told the actress at Brand Vision Summit 2016 on Wednesday.

Sonam will also be essaying one of the lead roles in Shahanka Ghosh's directorial "Veere Di Wedding". It’s a romantic comedy co-starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania.

Sonakshi’s absenteeism on the Koffee With Karan due to Karan’s confusion!

Filmmaker Karan Johar has shot with numerous stars for the newest season of his very famous chat show Koffee with Karan. But, the beautiful Sonakshi Sinha has not made an appearance on the season so far. When questioned about it, Sonakshi clarified the reason behind her absence.

She told, "Karan and me met the other day and he is confused as to whom to call as my partner on the show. He told me to suggest a few and said that he will also think. Once that is decided, I will be on the show."

When questioned what she thought about KJO asking Arjun Kapoor of his link up with Sonakshi, the Force 2 actress stated that she is yet to watch the episode.

Actress Aditi Rao Hydari tells working with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a dream for any actor.

"I would like to say that it is any actor's dream to work with a director like Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He is an amazing director and it's also my dream to work with him," she told.

Aditi was speaking at the Brand Vision Summit 2016 event.

"His work is infectious and passionate. That is what we all live for. To have passion in your work and to be inspired, to be able to respect somebody. I really have that utmost respect for him," she told.

The "Wazir" actress has seemingly been approached for the role of Ranveer Singh's wife in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's historical drama "Padmavati".

When questioned about that, Aditi smiled and told, "I am not going to answer that question."

"However, it would be amazing to work with Ranveer. We started seven years ago with Shaad Ali. We were both without a job then," She remembered.

The historical drama stars Deepika Padukone in the lead role as Rani Padmavati, Shahid Kapoor as her husband Raja Ratan Singh, and Ranveer Singh as Sultan Alauddin Khilji.

Kangana replies indirectly on Alia and Ranveer's dig?

We know well about Alia Bhatt’s remark about Kangana Ranaut on the debut episode of Koffee with Karan this season. Alia, who came with Shah Rukh Khan, had stated that she would like to stalk Kangana. She had told, "I would like to stalk Kangana because she has a lot of lovely airport looks. But I really want to know where she is going!"

Ranveer Singh also made a dig at Kangana telling that Ranbir Kapoor should hook up with her and there would be fireworks if that happened.

Well, seemingly, Kangana was not too content with these remarks as she responded to it via her representative. A famous tabloid stated the spokesperson as telling, "Kangana is taking it in the right spirit, but when asked on a public platform, she will speak her mind. People go to the airport to catch a flight. They fly and Kangana wants to fly high — literally. She's more of a firebrand, than a firework that fizzles out."

The spokesperson further added, "Kangana is gearing up for Rangoon and her other shoot commitments. She's more excited about her look than anything else at the moment. So she is only laughing about their comments, for now."

Nysa and I may not be best friends, reveals Kajol on equation with daughter Nysa!

Bollywood actress Kajol is a hands-on mom to daughter Nysa and son Yug. Kajol’s lil girl is now all grown up and has now turned 13. In a frank conversation with a famous tabloid, Kajol opened up on her relationship with Nysa and how her daughter has made social media friendly, literally!

On being questioned if she and her daughter are BFFs, Kajol told, "We have definitely come to the sharing of clothes and make-up business. But I don’t know if we have become such good friends yet (Laughs)."

She further included, "I think it’s because she is a teenager. When you were a teenager, I doubt you were your father’s best friend. Nysa and I may not be best friends, too. I don’t believe we are best friends. But what I do believe, is that today, I can talk to her about things that I could not probably earlier and she can talk to me about certain things as well which she couldn’t talk about earlier. Again, she has other best friends, but I am her mom and she loves me!"

Kajol also credits Nysa for making her digital media friendly. "She’s the one who convinced me to go on Instagram and she was like, ‘You have to have social media. Media is important, you are doing films and you need it’. Well, I am definitely more social media-friendly now, thanks to Nysa! She thought it out and she explained it to me and she was like, ‘You know Mom, this is really important. You are going to have films releasing and this is important for when your films release, when they don’t and when you are in between films.’ I felt that made sense and she sat down and showed me everything. Ranveer is very supporting and brings life to whatever he does, says Vaani Kapoor!

Bollywood’s leggy lass Vaani Kapoor is all admiration for Ranveer Singh and tells her "Befikre" co-star is very supporting and brings life to whatever he does.

Questioned about Ranveer as a co-star, Vaani revealed, "He really does bring life to wherever he is. Be it any place... Be it on or off camera his energy is really infectious. He never really behaved like a star. He is a very supporting co-actor." 

The 28-year-old actress, who made her acting debut in 2013 with "Shuddh Desi Romance", tells she knew Ranveer before shooting for filmmaker Aditya Chopra's directorial. 

"I've known him before we started shooting for the movie. So we already did have an equation and we really did have a very chilled out vibe. We both were very comfortable being in each other’s' company," she told. 

Vaani tells that this has "made a huge difference because then there was no ice-breaking process that was needed."

"So, it went really smooth actually. We had a very smooth equation," she told. 

Shot extensively in Paris, "Befikre" is a progressive, fresh interpretation of love as viewed in the 21st century. The movie is scheduled to release on December 9.

"Befikre" is a free-spirited, contemporary love story of Dharam (Ranveer) and Shyra (Vaani), who find love in an impulsive, engaging series of experiences.

'Force 3' won't be made without me, says Sonakshi Sinha to her film unit!

Gorgeous actress Sonakshi Sinha, who has been loved for her acts in back-to-back action films "Akira" and "Force 2", tells that she has asked the makers to cast her in "Force 3".

John Abraham, an actor and co-producer of the movie, has already confirmed the third installment of "Force" franchise and Sonakshi light-heartedly told, "I have already warned everyone John, Vipul sir (co-producer Vipul Shah), Abhinay Deo (director) that 'Force 3' won't be made without me." 

"I had a good year with two action films. When you take risks and your work is appreciated, you feel good," she further added while talking at the Brand Vision Summit event here on Wednesday.

Following "Force 2", the 29-year-old will be seen in "Noor", which is directed by Sunhil Sippy. The actress plays a role of a journalist in the film.

The movie is scheduled for a worldwide release on April 21, 2017.

In the meantime, the actress is going to appear in Karan Johar's chat show "Koffee with Karan" soon but it is not decided with whom she will share the couch.

"Karan is very confused as to with whom he would put me on his show. So, both of us are thinking. We have not yet decided," she revealed.

Raj Kapoor’s grandson Aadar Jain’s debut with Aditya Chopra's film!

After many star kids, now Raj Kapoor’s grandson Aadar Jain will soon be seen in Aditya Chopra's movie. As per to a famous tabloid, Aditya might launch on the same scale as Ishaqzaade, in a romantic drama directed by Habib Faisal. 

Speaking about Adar, casting director Shanoo Sharma said the tabloid, “He was on my radar even then. Rima is a family friend and these kids have grown up before my eyes. I would keep running into Armaan and Aadar at Dharma Productions, while casting for Karan’s (Johar) movie. I told Aadar that I wanted to capture him on video just talking. He came across as very charming and incredibly cute. There’s a whole different side to him — flirtatious and mischievous — Aadar has Shashi Kapoor’s energy about him. I showed the video to Adi who liked him, too, and said we could cast him whenever something suitable was happening."

Shanoo further added, "Aadar did not get Habib’s film because he is Raj Kapoor’s grandson, but because this boy has it in him. He is incredibly watchable, arresting and has that charisma. In the end, no matter what, if Habib Sir didn’t believe in the boy, nothing would have made him sign him. It has to be the perfect casting.”

Deepika is free to decide whatever she wants to do, says father Prakash Padukone on Ranveer-Deepika's marriage!

While reports of all not being well between Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone have been doing the rounds for some time now, Singh's wedding material comment on Koffee With Karan about Deepika has got everybody's attention.

The two stars' hand-in-hand entry at the Ambani's wedding party last week, also made many heave a sigh of relief.

Though most of them would like to believe that there is no trouble in their heaven, it is only Deepika-Ranveer who can tell us the truth.

In the middle of these reports, a famous daily got in touch with Deepika's father, ace badminton player Prakash Padukone, to comment on Ranveer's wedding material statement. Now Salman Khan’s initiative to stop open defecation!

Indian PM Narendra Modi's pet project Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has always been in headlines as Bollywood celebs have been supporting it. Now, Salman Khan has also joined the initiative.

As per to a famous tabloid, Salman has become the ambassador of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation' drive against open defecation and litter.

The reports also recommend that Salman's Being Human Foundation will donate five mobile toilets to the BMC to be placed at Bandstand. The 51-year-old has also a complaint of open defecation outside his house and he's concerned about the condition. 

Seemingly, Salman is to meet Municipal Commissioner Ajoy Mehta to decide on the shape and tenor of the anti-open defecation campaign. The leading daily also reviewed the letter written by Being Human to the BMC. It reads as, "We are in receipt of your letter addressed to Mr. Salman Khan requesting him to become a brand ambassador of the BMC to assist the BMC in their cleanliness drives. We are pleased to inform you that Mr. Salman Khan will be happy to accept your invitation and through Being Human the Salman Khan Foundation will help the BMC in creating awareness about cleanliness drives."
