We had informed previously that Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar
will star in the Hindi remake of A.R. Murugadoss's Kaththi. Now, there is a
strong news that Akshay will romance a Pakistani actress and VJ, Maya Ali in
the movie, which is tentatively titled, Ikka.
Maya, who intends to try her luck in Bollywood, has been a
part of Pakistani television industry. She began her career as a VJ in SAMAA
TV, Waqt News and Dunya News.
The original movie revolved around farmer suicides as a
result of corporate encroachment, but the remake will seemingly revolve around
scarcity of water and how companies making aerated drinks are tapping into free
water and using it to expand their soft drink businesses.
The movie is expected to roll after Akshay wraps up Robot
2.0 and Jolly LLB 2. The Airlift star is presently working on
Rajinikanth-starrer Robot 2.0, in which he plays a negative role.
Apart from Maya, Pakistani actresses Mahira Khan and Saba
Qamar will soon make their respective Bollywood debuts.
