Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt’s career graph from being a
student in 2012 to her hit performance as Vaidehi in Badrinath Ki
Dulhania most lately is nothing less than impressive.
While Imtiaz Ali’s Highway is believed to be her
breakthrough in the industry, Alia is also credited for her non-stereotypical act
and role in Gauri Shinde’s Dear Zindagi alongside Shah Rukh
Khan.
Talking about the new avenues and perspective film like Dear
Zindagi has opened, the 23-year-old said a famous magazine, “In acting, you can
pretend to be 20. Or much older, if you like. I’ve been offered films with
Ranveer (Singh),Hrithik (Roshan) … Back in the day (in Bollywood),
there used to be movies only about love, or there were action films. We hope to
make different kinds of movies now, with different kind of stars.”
Having done clichéd roles in Student of the Year,
Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania to pushing her limits in films
like Highway and Udta Punjab, Alia has certainly tasted all. Speaking
about working in these varied genres the Kapoor & Sons star
iterated, “I find beauty in both the worlds.”
Explaining on how she has managed to enact both the genres
with this precision, Alia credited it to her “Imagination and empathy.”
Further talking about how imagination plays a significant
role in her profession she talked about her experience of filming Udta
Punjab and told, “I was shocked by just one shot…Sometimes you just have
to imagine that it’s happening to you, and the reality of it throws you off.
This can’t happen in every shot, of course.”
She also talked about that one scene in the movie where she really
felt the pain of a Bihari migrant and recalled, “There is a scene in Udta
Punjab, where I am near a haystack, and I break down, looking up to the
sky, with Shahid (Kapoor) around. I truly felt that moment. Later, of course, I
got irritated when everybody on the set started getting worried and all.”
Alia who believes acting is not a job to her but a part of
her nature told, “I don’t like taking myself too seriously. I’ve performed from
instinct, responding to what comes from inside. Acting is second-nature to me,
it’s not a job,” as she signed off.
