Actress Kangana Ranaut has been preparing hard for
Ketan Mehta's biopic on Rani Lakshmi Bai. She was seen learning horse riding
and sword fighting from past two years and was all set to begin shooting for
the movie.
Now, the movie is set to go on floors on March 23 which
marks Kangana's 30th birthday. She will shoot for the poster of the movie. Furthermore,
the film will not be helmed by Ketan but Telugu filmmaker Krish who directed Akshay
Kumar starrer Gabbar Is Back.
The film is penned by KV Vijayendra Prasad, who wrote the
scripts of Baahubali and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. He is the father of first-rate
filmmaker SS Rajamouli.
Speaking about the film, the new project will be titled Manikarnika which
is the birth name of Rani of Jhansi. An insider specified, "The new film
will be helmed by a fresh team. A top studio, too, has agreed to back the
venture, which is envisioned as an action-packed, feisty film. It is the biopic
of an ordinary girl, who when faced with tough times, discovered the warrior in
her. The film will go on floors in mid-May."
When questioned about Ketan's film, the insider further told,
"Ketan was insistent that his movie is made in English for an
international audience, like Gurinder Chadha's The Viceroy House, but
those working on the film felt it won't go with the ethos of the story."
News have it, a British writer and Kangana had penned down
the script of the biopic. The source concluded by telling, "The actress
and the filmmaker couldn't find common ground on the language factor, leaving
the project in a limbo."
