Actor Shahid Kapoor is in a
much stable and satisfying phase at both personal front and career wise is
known to all. Talking to a famous tabloid, the 36-year-old actor opened up
about his marriage, wife Mira and the evolution of Bollywood from being gender
biased to now working in a non-prejudiced fashion.
While much has been said about Shahid and Mira’s wedding,
the actor believes that the duo hit it off from the very beginning.
Speaking about what connected them he disclosed, “We could
speak very easily. So, I thought we could be friends in spite of not having
anything in common. We were able to connect as people. It felt easy,
nice and normal. I found her to be self-assured and not at all affected by the
fact that I am an actor.”
Shahid confessed that wedding has changed a lot in him and told,
“Marriage changes you for sure. Jab tak insaan samajhta hai
ki mujhme kya kya change hua hai (till the time a
person understands what all has changed in him), it’s too late to go back.”
Apart from his personal life, Shahid keenly talked about the
changing dynamics of Hindi cinema and repeated that he is happy with the fact
that good actors irrespective of their gender are empowered and appreciated.
“The words male and female have become irrelevant. I think
we have crossed that stage where (gender) was important to discuss. We have
reached a point where (the mindset) is naturally changing in the right
direction. Women had a raw deal for quite a few years. I’ve grown up learning
to respect talent and professionalism, and that has nothing to do with being
male or female. I’m glad that good actors are being empowered today,” he told.
Acknowledging that Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Alia
Bhatt are his favourites amongst the current lot, Shahid further
added, “The latest generation of actors know how to promote themselves. I don’t
think the previous generation had that skill. It is a skill we are learning
from them.”
