2.0 doesn’t release till October but S. Shankar has already
pocketed a fat sum for its satellite rights!
Apparently a TV channel has shelled out over $16.5 million
for the rights to the sci-fi flick’s Tamil, Telugu and Hindi versions. If the
figure is correct then this is the highest price ever paid for the satellite
rights of a regional film, which is fitting since 2.0 is supposed to be India’s
most expensive film ever at a budget of $60 million. I’m sure the Rajnikath and
Akshay Kumar starrer will live up to all the hype.
