Actress Shraddha Kapoor is
going an extra mile for her role in Half Girlfriend and is training
hard to get into the shoes of a basketball player. Half Girlfriend will
see Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha paired up for the first time on screen.
The film revolves around Madhav and Riya's close relationship that blossoms
because of the love for basketball.
As the movie centres around basketball, both the actors had
to be pro in the game. There were reports that Sharddha have sustained a few
minor injuries during the shoot and she won't be able to pull it off.
But, director Mohit Suri is mighty overwhelmed with how
Shraddha upped her game for her role in the movie. He told, "Shraddha
would train for hours on end every day for over a month. While Arjun is a
basketball pro, Shraddha was supposed to play a university girl, who is damn
good at it."
He also further added, "It was important for her to get
the basics right. She is a quick learner and also receptive to feedback. The DU
girls, who play basketball, would play a game or two while we weren't shooting.
International coach Natalia Andre and her team were always present on set to
help her."
The movie, adapted from Chetan Bhagat's bestselling novel by
the same name, will hit theatres on May 19, 2017.
