Actor Anil Kapoor is one caring daddy to daughters Sonam
Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor. The girls, in January 2016, had pronounced their
passion project Veere Di Wedding. The film was to go on-floors by
mid-May 2016 and stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar and
Shikha Talsania and is helmed by Shashanka Ghosh.
But, due to Kareena's pregnancy, the project got pushed
ahead and is now scheduled to begin shoot in April/May 2017. And if the delay
wasn't enough, then there is yet another challenge for the makers now.
As per to a famous daily, shooting for another film,
titled Veerey Ki Wedding is underway and has finished almost 50% of
the shoot. The film stars Jimmy Sheirgill and debutante Diljott. Given that
this movie has an identical name to that of Veere Di Wedding, the Kapoors
don't seem to be happy. Anil Kapoor has written to the Indian Motion Pictures
Producers Association (IMPAA), claiming that they first registered the title
and has demanded intervention.
While Anil didn't remark on the issue when communicated by
the dsily, director of Veerey Ki Wedding Ashu Trikha told, that they had
acquired copyright and trademark for the title and also got it registered with
their association, the Indian Film and TV Producers Council. According to Ashu,
the Bollywood film producers are associated with different associations, all of
which are headed by the different filmmakers, though combined. They take the
final call.
"The association suggests that a trademark supersedes
any other registration. Legally, we have supported our title with everything,”
says the director adding, "Shooting for the songs, including the title
track of the romantic-actioner, is complete. Following a packed schedule next
week, 80 per cent of the film will be ready."
Fascinatingly, IMPAA had asked the team of Veerey Ki
Wedding to change their title. But, when they learnt of the trademark,
they let the film have the same title. Also since a major portion of the movie
was shot, they let it go ahead with the name.
A senior member of IMPAA informed the daily, "Anil will
have to choose a new title, since shooting is yet to commence for his film.
That's the only way out."
