We had informed that after Bajirao Mastani, Sanjay Leela
Bhansali is planning to make a movie on Queen Padmavati of Chittor and Sultan Alauddin
Khilji's obsessive love for her. At the time, there were rumours that Ranveer
might be signed up to play Khilji and we have now heard that Bhansali has
Deepika Padukone in mind to play Padmavati.
Sources reveal that though Deepika is quite excited about
Padmavati, she is facing date issues and is trying her best to wrap up her
professional commitments so that she can be a part of the project. It seems
that the hit pairing Ranveer-Deepika in Ram Leela and Bajirao Mastani has
convinced Bhansali to sign the two lovebirds for this movie.
The movie traces the journey of a loyal yet beautiful queen,
who decides to end her life after her husband Ratan Singh gets defeated in a
war waged by Alaudin over his obsession to gain the love of Rani Padmavati. The
film is slated to release on December 15, 2017.
