Belief Vidya Balan to astonish us every time with a new
avatar. The actress has carved her own niche over the years and has managed to
bowl us with some award-winning acts. Be it her bold character in The
Dirty Picture or her magnificent act in Kahaani. Her amazing act as
Monjulika in Bhool Bhulaiyya or her act in Ishqiya, Vidya has
done it all. This time, the powerhouse performer has mesmerized us yet
again in her Begum Jaan's avatar on the first poster of her forthcoming
movie.
Known for getting under the skin of the character she essays,
Vidya looks lethal as Begum Jaan in the new poster disclosed by the
makers. Dressed in a maroon ghagra, a long embroidered blouse with a deep-neck,
Vidya looks intriguing as the madam of the brothel. The poster's tag line states
"My Body, My House, My Country, My Rules" and Balan's menacing looks
reinstates that.
Begum Jaan is a tale of survivors who defy nations to
save their homes, riding against the tide amongst the changing political
scenario during Partition. ‘When Freedom fought Independence’ is the tagline of
the film and is directed by national award-winning director Srijit Mukherji.
The film also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Ila Arun, Gauahar
Khan, Pallavi Sharda, Rajit Kapoor, Ashish Vidyarthi, Vivek Mushran, Chunky Pandey,
Poonam Singh Rajput, Ridheema Tiwari, Flora Saini, Priyanka Setia, Mishti
Chakraborty, Sumit Nijhawan, Pitobash and Rajesh Sharma in key roles.
