Much has been written about how Sushant Singh Rajput
practiced cricket for hours and also scrutinized many cricket matches in which
Mahendra Singh Dhoni had played to get his mannerisms right for his forthcoming
movie MS Dhoni-The Untold Story, but what many might not know is that the actor
also spent time with Dhoni's ticket collector friends to get to know more about
his life before he became a cricketer.
A source attached to the movie disclosed that as Dhoni had
been a ticket collector with the Indian Railways before pursuing his passion
for cricket, Sushant too hung out with his colleagues from those days and also
stayed with them for a few days in their railway quarters instead of at a plush
hotel while researching the character. Sushant not only spent time sitting and
interacting with them, but also traveled with them in trains secretly and
observed their body language and their style of talking.
Approving the news, Rajput told, “Apart from undergoing hard
core preparation to play cricket like Dhoni, there was a different kind of
effort that went into understanding his life before he became India's Captain
Cool! Three of his roommates have been of phenomenal help to me. They let me
come in their work space in the trains, let me stay in the same railway quarter
and also told me a lot of stories about Dhoni which helped me make my
performance more nuanced. I was extremely fascinated."
Directed by Neeraj Pandey, MS Dhoni-The Untold Story is
slated to release on September 2.
