Even before The Jungle Book hits the screens, the film’s
director Jon Favreau is getting recognized for his newest movie. Favreau was honored
with Innovation in Film Award from People For the Ethical Treatment of Animals
(PETA) for digitally creating the literary characters such as Baloo the bear
and Shere Khan the tiger, instead of employing real animals.
The Iron Man director, who used advanced computer-generated
imagery (CGI), told, ''It's amazing what they can do with [creating the
appearance of] fur and live-flesh animals, and so every day I go into work it's
astounding what these visual effects artists accomplish.''
The movie has a stellar cast in supporting roles including
Idris Elba who will voice the tiger, Shere Khan, with Ben Kingsley as the black
panther, Bagheera and Bill Murray as Baloo. Favreau's retelling of Rudyard Kipling's
classic story hits cinemas in India on April 8.
