Janhvi Kapoor was close to veteran actress Sridevi, who unexpectedly passed away in 2018, upsetting her family and fans. Just a few months prior to making her Bollywood debut, the actress experienced the worst loss of her life.
Janhvi has finally opened up about how she was feeling at that very delicate point in her life.
In a podcast interview, Janhvi Kapoor said that she struggled with self-esteem
at initially since she didn't know how to assess her own value. She said she
was seeking "a lot of validation" from unsuitable people.
The actress also talked about her issues with body image, her worries about her
Hindi language proficiency, and her conviction that she was denied most human
experiences by her upbringing.
She remembers being in 'a totally different emotional state', referring to
someone who pursues academic, creative, or personal progress in all its
manifestations. Janhvi said she was feeling so insecure that it was
overwhelming her.
In her own words, it was engrained in her from a "very young age." She presented her case, "I mean when people have such a heavy perception of you and your privilege, and you are kind of made to feel apologetic about the space that you take up in the industry. In school, every time you make friends or do well, you get any sort of opportunity; it is always pinned to where you come from. Then you kind of don’t know what value to give yourself individually.”
