One of the greatest directors working today is Sanjay Leela Bhansali, whose films consistently showcase his distinct approach.
In a recent interview, Bhansali opened up about working with actors like
Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Madhuri Dixit, Rani Mukerji,
and others. The soon-to-be parents nailed their roles in Bajirao Mastani,
Padmaavat, and Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela. He cast Madhuri in SLB's Devdas,
Big, and Rani in Black.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali said in a media interview that the actors he casts for
his movies must be really genuine.
He disclosed, “I’ve worked with wonderful actors Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Madhuri Dixit, Rani Mukerji, Amitabh Bachchan. I have been very blessed, Hrithik Roshan, Nana Patekar, they’re all wonderful." Calling Seema Biswas, one of his all-time favorites, he continued, "One of the greatest actors. So I’ve been very, very fortunate.”
The director also says he gets along well with all of them and suggests not using the same actors again for other projects. "They get upset about it or they feel, ‘We give so much to Sanjay for this, why not this one?’ But I feel sometimes the casting is very organic. It has to come from deep within. We are not here to build relationships," he further disclosed.
Over 90% of the cast has performed magic on screen, thus the director, who expressed his love and gratitude for them all, said he thinks they give it their best.
