Kiran Rao’s revelation about her first meeting with Aamir Khan!

Following a 16-year marriage, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao confirmed their split in 2021. Nevertheless, the former pair is still friendly and recently collaborated on the popular movie Laapataa Ladies.

Along with Aamir, Kiran co-produced and directed the film. The actor has now talked candidly about their initial encounter on the Lagaan set.

Kiran Rao talked candidly about how she came to collaborate with Aamir Khan on the Lagaan film sets during a recent media chat. The director remembered receiving a call from Reema Kagti asking whether she would like to participate. At the time, Kiran was between jobs, and the three-month timeline was anticipated. She consented to come even though at the time she hadn't seen "a lot" of Hindi movies.

Speaking about the "huge risk" Aamir was taking on the movie, she explained that it was a sports movie set in Awadhi, a very different dialect, 100 years ago. "When I was in charge of getting all of them into layers and layers of their outfits, it was quite an experience. It was like a film school for me,” revealed Kiran.

The director, who worked as an assistant director on the Lagaan sets, remembers that the three months of filming turned into six months. She mentioned that the year had been very hectic for her as she had completed Monsoon Wedding in addition to Lagaan. "Then Reema and Zoya were doing Dil Chahta Hai, so they sent me to Goa for extra casting,” she further revealed.

Kiran revealed that she got back in touch with Aamir Khan while he was filming Mangal Pandey and she was working on Swades. "That’s when we started dating," she told while adding that after Swades ended, Aamir started working on Rang De Basanti.

Kiran also remembered that she traveled with Aamir for two or three months while he was filming Rang De Basanti, during which time she began scripting Dhobi Ghat. "I actually wrote my film Dhobi Ghat when Aamir was shooting for his film,” told Kiran.

Mr & Mrs Mahi: A Love Story That Swings Between Dreams and Reality!

Mr & Mrs Mahi: A Love Story That Swings Between Dreams and Reality!

Cricket fever grips India, and so does it grip Mahendra (Rajkummar Rao) and Mahima (Janhvi Kapoor) in the new film, Mr & Mrs Mahi. But this cinematic love story isn't just about boundaries and sixes. It delves into the dreams that simmer beneath the surface and the sacrifices couples make for love and ambition.

A Shared Passion, Different Paths:

The film follows Mahendra and Mahima, two individuals brought together by their ardent love for cricket. While they idolize MS Dhoni, their own cricketing aspirations take them on contrasting journeys. Mahendra's struggles to break into the professional scene are relatable, and Rao portrays his frustration with nuance. Mahima, on the other hand, harbors a secret passion for the sport, a revelation that throws a curveball at the narrative.

A Winning Performance, A Fumbled Script:

Both Rao and Kapoor deliver commendable performances. Rao shines as the passionate Mahendra, while Kapoor brings a refreshing spark to Mahima's hidden desires. Their on-screen chemistry keeps the audience invested. However, the script isn't quite a match-winner. The initial promise of exploring dreams beyond the usual underdog narrative fades as the plot becomes predictable. The film struggles to find a consistent tone, juggling humor, romance, and the seriousness of athletic aspirations.

The Unsung Heroine?

The title, Mr & Mrs Mahi, hints at a balanced exploration of both characters' journeys. However, the narrative leans heavily towards Mahendra's struggles, leaving Mahima's potential somewhat unexplored. This one-sided focus might leave some viewers wanting a more equal innings for the female protagonist.

The Final Verdict:

Mr & Mrs Mahi is a film with undeniable charm. The lead performances and the initial premise hold promise. But uneven pacing, predictable plot elements, and an under-developed role for Kapoor prevent it from becoming a cinematic masterpiece. For those seeking a light-hearted sports drama with a touch of romance, Mr & Mrs Mahi might be a decent watch. But if you're looking for a hard-hitting exploration of dreams and relationships, you might have to wait for the next big innings.

Mr & Mrs Mahi Review: A Promising Innings That Falls Short!

Mr & Mrs Mahi: A Promising Innings That Falls Short!

Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor starrer Mr & Mrs Mahi
had all the ingredients for a delightful cinematic experience. A story about a couple chasing their cricket dreams, heartwarming romance, and the struggles of aspiring athletes - it promised a lot. Let's delve into whether the film delivers on its potential.

The Good:

  • The Lead Pair: Rao and Kapoor share a comfortable chemistry, carrying the film with their earnest performances. Rao excels at portraying Mahendra's frustrations and determination, while Kapoor brings a spark to Mahima's hidden passion for the game.
  • A Refreshing Take (Almost): The film initially breaks away from the usual sports movie tropes. It explores the journey of two regular people, not just cricketing prodigies.

The Not-So-Good:

  • Uneven Script: The narrative falters midway. The film's attempt to please everyone results in a tonal inconsistency. It struggles to balance the lighthearted romance with the seriousness of pursuing athletic dreams.
  • Missed Opportunities: The movie introduces interesting themes like societal expectations and gender roles in sports, but fails to explore them fully. Mahima's journey as a female cricketer deserved more depth.
  • Predictable Climax: The ending feels rushed and lacks the emotional punch one expects from a film about chasing dreams.

Overall:

Mr and Mrs Mahi is a watchable film thanks to the performances of its lead actors. However, a weak script and a predictable plot keep it from being truly memorable. It's a decent one-time watch for fans of Rao and Kapoor, but for those seeking a hard-hitting sports drama or a fresh take on gender roles in athletics, this one might leave you wanting more.

Manoj Bajpayee talks about increasing number of divorces in Bollywood!

Manoj Bajpayee talks about increasing number of divorces in Bollywood!

Actor Manoj Bajpayee advanced through the ranks, winning a National Award after moving up from supporting roles. Having spent a considerable amount of time in Bollywood, he has experienced both its highs and lows.

He has also personally witnessed the problems that beset the industry. The actor recently discussed his opinions on the drawbacks of Bollywood in an interview.

Manoj Bajpayee, who is well-known for his roles in movies like Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai and The Family Man, was having a conversation with Sushant Sinha. They had a good chat, during which the journalist questioned him about the realities of Bollywood's dark side, which includes lavish parties, divorce, and other problems.

The actor from Gulmohar shared his opinions on the matter, stating that many people need work and that the Hindi film industry is quite small. He said, “If someone is ever caught doing the wrong thing in some corner of the industry, that doesn’t prove anything. Me and my friends and co-stars also belong to the same industry, and I can tell 95% of them are very passionate very sincere not only about the films they are doing but also to their family and near and dear ones and their friends. A few incidents here and there cannot prove that the whole industry is like that.”

Regarding the growing divorce rate in the industry, he stated, “If you go to Tees Hazari Court and ask about the divorce rate, you will realize where we have come today, where relationships and marriages are breaking every day. Our society adopted the nuclear family trend, and there are benefits of it too, but the harm that nuclear family trend caused you can see it in the courts.”

Manoj Bajpayee further disclosed, “So, is the industry not part of society? People who belong to the same society are part of the industry. When people belong to the same society, then isn’t it obvious that the change in society will also be visible in the industry? Previously, in the same industry, there were not as many divorces as there are today. But in its behavior, the industry is very open-minded and don’t tie themselves to any state or country, which is quite a good thing,” he told, adding that creative people must be open-minded.

She admitted that she was budget-conscious and that she was in favor of protecting the rights of her crew. It was suggested by the actress that they have a "open dialogue" with the producers instead.

She disclosed, “But I’m of the belief that everyone on a film set is an artist. I know I’m very protective of my team, and I’d like to protect their rights. Being a producer’s daughter, however, I also know the kind of burden and pressure all these monetary things can put on a producer." She then added, "It’s important to have an open dialogue with your makers.” Having said that, the actress added that not every member of an actor's crew is employed for financial gain.

The actress further disclosed, “That if this is not the film where you can have all of this, then you can make that adjustment, and if this is the film where your team can get what you want, then you give them that. I’m sure if you are working with people who care about the craft as much as you do..." The Gunjan Saxena actress further added, "Sab log yaha sirf paiso ke liye kaam nahi kar rahe, kaam ke liye bhi kaam kar rahe hai (not everyone is working for money, some work for the purpose of getting work)”. So I think it is easy to come to an understanding about these things."
