Kiran Rao’s revelation about her first meeting with Aamir Khan!

Following a 16-year marriage, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao confirmed their split in 2021. Nevertheless, the former pair is still friendly and recently collaborated on the popular movie Laapataa Ladies.

Along with Aamir, Kiran co-produced and directed the film. The actor has now talked candidly about their initial encounter on the Lagaan set.

Kiran Rao talked candidly about how she came to collaborate with Aamir Khan on the Lagaan film sets during a recent media chat. The director remembered receiving a call from Reema Kagti asking whether she would like to participate. At the time, Kiran was between jobs, and the three-month timeline was anticipated. She consented to come even though at the time she hadn't seen "a lot" of Hindi movies.

Speaking about the "huge risk" Aamir was taking on the movie, she explained that it was a sports movie set in Awadhi, a very different dialect, 100 years ago. "When I was in charge of getting all of them into layers and layers of their outfits, it was quite an experience. It was like a film school for me,” revealed Kiran.

The director, who worked as an assistant director on the Lagaan sets, remembers that the three months of filming turned into six months. She mentioned that the year had been very hectic for her as she had completed Monsoon Wedding in addition to Lagaan. "Then Reema and Zoya were doing Dil Chahta Hai, so they sent me to Goa for extra casting,” she further revealed.

Kiran revealed that she got back in touch with Aamir Khan while he was filming Mangal Pandey and she was working on Swades. "That’s when we started dating," she told while adding that after Swades ended, Aamir started working on Rang De Basanti.

Kiran also remembered that she traveled with Aamir for two or three months while he was filming Rang De Basanti, during which time she began scripting Dhobi Ghat. "I actually wrote my film Dhobi Ghat when Aamir was shooting for his film,” told Kiran.

He further wrote, “Some films make you fall in love with cinema all over again and this one did more than that.” Vijay expressed his best wishes to filmmaker Kiran Rao by saying, “Many congratulations to @raodyness and her gifted team for this firecracker of a film. It's so inspiring to see young actors blossom this way! A fresh new wave has emerged and it was so needed!”

In another story, Vijay re-posted a behind-the-scenes film of Laapataa Ladies star Ravi Kishan. "Bhaaaiisaab kya nazakat wala kaam @ravikishann," he said.

The fact that women have to fight for equal pay for equal work is shameful, reveals Kiran Rao!

Filmmaker Kiran Rao, who was present at the trailer launch of Secret Superstar yesterday, did not mince her words while speaking about the prevalent sexism in the industry.

During the trailer launch, Kiran Rao told that it's a pity that women, even today, have to fight for something as basic as the right to freedom and dream.

"Historically, girls and women have been suppressed. It’s known to all that for 1000 years, women have been given the second position. Not in India, but abroad, we saw that even voting rights women got after a long time. We got all kind of rights quite late. All over the world, women have to struggle to get their rights and recognition. If we talk about pay, the fact that women have to fight for ‘equal pay for equal work’ is shameful,” Kiran told.

She added, “I just want to tell women that the best message through this film is that don’t be scared to dream. Don’t be scared to desire or want things. It’s your right to have freedom, to follow your heart and dreams.”

Co-produced by Kiran, Aamir Khan, Zee Studios and Akash Chawla, Secret Superstar is directed by debutant Advait Chandan and is scheduled to release this year during the Diwali weekend.

In the movie, Zaira plays a 14-year-old girl named Insia who desires to be a singer much to the chagrin of her dad. She then decides to make her own YouTube channel in which she posts videos of herself singing while covering her face in a burkha. She is then scouted by Aamir's character who is a music director and is fascinated by Insia's musical gift.

The trailer of the movie released lately and Zaira's act has already met with immense praise. 

Kiran Rao's house and maids are under the scanner over missing of her Jewellery worth Rs 80 lakh!

While superstar Aamir Khan is busy promoting Dangal across numerous platforms, his wife Kiran Rao is presently in an awkward situation. As per a famous tabloid, the Khar police are investigating a complaint that jewellery worth over Rs 53 lakh is missing from filmmaker Rao’s home in Bandra. Based on a complaint filed by Rao’s relative, the police have registered a first information report under Section 453 (theft in dwelling house, etc) of the Indian Penal Code.

As per the complaint, Rao discovered sometime last week that a ring and a diamond necklace were missing from her bedroom. Following this, her relative filed the complaint at the Khar police station. As per the tabloid, the three domestic helps are the prime suspects and have been questioned over the last five-six days. The house cook Farzana, Kiran's assistant Suzanna and domestic help Jhumki are the ones who are under the scanner. 

The police have also visited the homes of the three but have not been able to come up with any proof. Kiran has not issued any statement on the issue.

We had informed earlier that Aamir Khan and his filmmaker wife Kiran Rao are in Arunachal Pradesh to bring in the latter's birthday and the duo had an intimate celebration with their son Azad in Meghalaya, recently.

Kiran turns 42 and Aamir posted a family picture with his fans on Twitter, which shows the trio posing in front of a chocolate cake. Along with the image, Aamir posted, ''Bringing in Kiran's birthday in beautiful Meghalaya.''

Filmmaker Kiran Rao registers police complaint against Facebook impersonator!

Aamir Khan's wife filmmaker Kiran Rao lately registered a complaint against an anonymous imposter, who has been impersonation her on Facebook, with Cyber Crime Cell at the Bandra-Kurla Complex police station.

The impersonator has created a Facebook profile under her name and has also uploaded her pictures and has been interacting with her friends and family members. Cops have registered a case and are now examining the matter.
