Actress Shruti Haasan will next be seen essaying a feisty
Punjabi girl in her forthcoming film Behen Hogi Teri opposite Rajkummar Rao. To
get into the skin of the character, the actress who is known to be a fitness
freak had to pile on at least 8 kilos.
Speaking to a famous daily, Shruti told, "Given the family
and background that my character Binny Arora comes from, it was essential that
she looks fuller. Thankfully, gaining weight paid off, given the amazing
response our trailer received."
A source was quoted telling by the same daily,
"Shruti's character belongs to a food-loving family. She was asked to gain
weight to fit the role. Given that Shruti has always been a fitness freak, this
was new for her, but she was willing to take up the challenge."
The source further added that Shruti also changed her
exercise programme to facilitate the weight gain. "She cuts down on her
Pilates and weight training regime, and chose to focus on cardiovascular
workouts of low intensity," added the source.
The actress, but, resumed her fitness regime to lose that
extra weight immediately after completing the shoot for the film. "I made
sure I lost all the weight, maybe more, especially since I was to start combat
training for Sangamithra (Sundar C's period drama) later," told
Shruti.
Rajkummar and Shruti will be seen sharing screen space for
the first time in the movie. Behen Hogi Teri is all set to hit the theatres on
May 26, 2017.
