Shoojit Sircar, who is known for exploring various topics
through his movies, is now planning to thrill his fans with a movie on the well-known
Bengali detective Feluda, the protagonist of several novels and short stories
by much-admired director Satyajit Ray.
Authorizing the news, Sircar told that he is rather keen on
making a film based on ‘Sonar Kella' (The Golden Fortress), a mystery novel starring
Feluda, which was also made into a movie in 1974. Sircar added that though he
is not sure about how he can make a film on Feluda appeal to a national
audience, he is toying with the idea and also feels that it could be an
interesting idea for a franchise.
Feluda is not the first Bengali detective to solve mysteries
in Bollywood as Dibakar Banerjee too had teamed up with YRF to make Detective
Byomkesh Bakshy, an iconic detective created by author Sharadindu
Bandyopadhyay.
