Dhanush's Tamil movie Visaranai, which has been directed by
Vetrimaaran, is India's official entry to the Oscars 2017, in the Best Foreign
Language Film category.
The movie has been produced under Dhanush's banner Wunderbar
Productions and it stars Dinesh, Anandhi and Aadukalam Murugadoss in the lead
roles. The movie is based on M. Chandrakumar's novel Lock Up and deals with
police violence, corruption, and loss of innocence in the face of injustice.
The film beat the likes of Bajirao Mastani and Piku to
become India's official entry to the 89th Academy Awards.
