Helmed by Reema Kagti, Gold spins around independent India's first Olympic gold win after attaining freedom from the British rule - a feat achieved by the Indian men's hockey team in 1948 at the 14th London Olympiad. The movie had a stellar cast that includes Akshay Kumar as Tapan Das, Mouni Roy, who plays Akshay aka Tapan's wife and actors Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Vineet Kumar Singh and Sunny Kaushal as hockey players. The film started on a solid note and now has entered the 100-crore club.
