After the release of her family drama Dil Dhadakne Do, rumors
were widespread about filmmaker Zoya Akhtar's next. There was a strong news
that actor Ranveer Singh would star in the movie, which is tentatively titled
Gully Boy, but Zoya lately told that the actor has not been signed.
The Luck By Chance director told that they are still finalizing
the script of the movie, which is about an underdog who rises from the slums of
Mumbai to become a successful rapper. She added that no actor has been signed
for the project yet, which is expected to roll by next year.
There were speculations that the lead role was previously
offered to Hrithik Roshan, but he declined to take it up following which the
Bajirao Mastani star was approached. In the meantime, Ranveer is presently
shooting for Aditya Chopra's Befikre, which also stars Vaani Kapoor. The film
is slated to release on December 9.
