Megastar Rajinikanth is touted as the highest paid actor in
the country and he seemingly charges around Rs 80 crore per film. But in his forthcoming
mega-budget movie Enthiran 2 (Robot 2.0) the megastar has been pipped by
Bollywood star Akshay Kumar, in remuneration, at least.
News is that Akshay Kumar, who is making his Tamil debut,
has emerged as the highest paid actor in the country as the actor has been paid
more than the Thalaiva. The Airlift star is going to play the antagonist in the
movie. which is the sequel of the 2010 blockbuster movie directed by Shankar.
Seemingly, the makers accepted the Bollywood actor's demand
since they were in a hurry to rope in an actor with a nationwide reach. Originally,
the makers were in talks with Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Hollywood star
Arnold Schwarzenegger to play the villain in the movie, but it did not materialize.
Akshay Kumar, who is known to charge a hefty sum for his
Hindi movies along with a percentage from the film's profit, has assuredly had
a memorable debut in down South.
