It's not a propaganda film trying to portray him as God, reveals Ranbir on Dutt's biopic!

Actor Ranbir Kapoor has put his greatest efforts to Rajkumar Hirani's next which is based on Sanjay Dutt's life. In an interview with a famous agency, Ranbir told Dutt has been very gracious in providing insights about his life story in a truthful way.

"He hasn't been a hypocrite about it (his life). So it's not a propaganda film trying to portray him as God or something. We are trying to show a very human side of Sanjay Dutt, his perils, his downfall, his will to fight, his time in jail, terrorism charges, his drug phase, how he handled his mother's death two days before the release of his debut film, his relationship with his father. These were human conflicts in his life," Ranbir further added.

Ranbir mentioned that it was challenging for his portray Dutt and it was daunting at the earlier stage of shooting for the movie. "He is such a relevant person even today. He is so much loved even today. He is controversial. But when you have Rajkumar Hirani as the director and Abhijat Joshi as the writer and the character like Sanjay Dutt, you are somewhere cushioned," he said.

Speaking about getting the look right, Ranbir told, "Getting the look right is very superficial, it is easy as you have help from makeup and computer graphics. To show Sanjay Dutt as a human being, as a biopic only works when you show the human side of a person, and not the glories but the downfall as well (was not easy)."

"I don't know if I have nailed it or not (referring to the film). I was very inspired (doing this film). We have a few days left now for the film. It's a very new me, so I am excited to see how the audience reacts. It should be out on March 30 next year," he told.

"We have not touched upon the Khalnayak phase. This film doesn't talk about Sanjay Dutt the hero, but Sanjay Dutt's life. We have touched upon his few films like the first one Rocky, Munnabhai MBBS," he told and ended conversation.

Rajkumar Hirani to play Subhash Ghai in Sanjay Dutt's biopic?

Sanjay Dutt's biopic has been in news ever since Rajkumar Hirani has pronounced the project. It took a lot of people by surprise that a biopic has been made on Sanjay Dutt as he is still alive and getting his life on screen wouldn't have been a cakewalk.

Now, there is one thing that has grabbed headlines - Rajkumar will seemingly be stepping into the shoes of Subhash Ghai for the biopic. A source said a famous tabloid, “Hirani will play the role of director Subhash Ghai, whose films Dutt has been a part of, most notably among them being Khalnayak. Hirani’s character will approach Ranbir (Dutt) to make a biopic on him and joke about it in the film though it later turned out to be a reality!"

For the role of Sanjay Dutt, Ranbir Kapoor has been roped in by the director. His transformation into Dutt has been loved by the audiences. From his walking style to that hunchback, Ranbir totally transformed himself just like Sanjay Dutt.

In an interview lately, when Ranbir was questioned about the film, he told, "I am really keeping my fingers crossed for Sanjay Dutt biopic, it was an altogether different experience shooting for the film. I can't imagine and believe how much can a man go through hell in one life. He has paid for his deeds, made mistakes and got everything in this life. While filming there were times when I would observe him a lot, talk and walk like him but then I started to distance myself from him. After the image and look of Sanjay Dutt was released it was appreciated, but the role that I am portraying is not an act. I hope everyone likes it."

Now no clash between Ranbir and Salman due to distributors!

Evergreen actor Ranbir Kapoor has always enthralled us with the dedication he has put in his projects, be it Tamasha or Barfi. Now, he has got our attention with his dedication for Sanjay Dutt's biopic. Previously, Dutt's biopic was to release this year and now has been pushed to March 2018. If the movie would have released this year, we would have had the biggest clash of 2017 - Ranbir Kapoor's Sanjay Dutt's biopic v/s Salman Khan's Tiger Zinda Hai.

Clarifying the entire scenario, a trade source said a famous tabloid, “Vidhu Vinod Chopra is mounting this film on a huge scale and this might be the film Ranbir has been wanting for so long. Hirani can hardly go wrong with content, and is the most bankable director in the industry, so it would have been a close match but the distributors and exhibitors asked the producers to delay the film’s release.”

The source confirmed, “The exhibitors weren’t willing to pay more than INR 70-80 crore for the film because if the clash had happened, the films would have suffered. Also, Salman’s film would have had an advantage when it comes to the division of screens. TZH would have still done more than INR 200 crore business, but Ranbir’s film would have done maximum INR 150 crore, even if the content was terrific.”

“The Dutt biopic is a huge film, and will definitely do crazy numbers. But that’s only when it doesn’t clash with a superstar’s film, especially Salman’s. So the distributors agreed to pay them INR 110 crore for the theatrical rights, on the condition that the film was pushed to a later date. Now, it has a solo release on March 30,” the source further added.

Sanjay Dutt's topic has become redundant, reveals Madhuri Dixit!

Ranbir Kapoor is presently busy shooting for the Sanjay Dutt biopic. The film is being helmed by Rajkumar Hirani and also stars Manisha Koirala, Paresh Rawal, Anushka Sharma and Sonam Kapoor in key roles.

Fascinatingly, as per to a daily, though initially, news suggested that Sonam Kapoor will play Madhuri Dixit's role in the movie, reports later surfaced that her role is an amalgamation of Sanjay's love interests from the early 90s.

Ever since the news of Madhuri Dixit's reference being included in the movie came out, there were conjectures that Madhuri made calls to the makers, to remove her mention from the biopic.

When Madhuri was questioned about it by a daily, she ridiculed the reports and told, "For where I am today, this [the topic of Dutt] has become redundant. Life has come a long way since then. I don't know where these reports are coming from. In any case, it doesn't make a difference to me."

On the film front, Madhuri was last seen in Dedh Ishqiya and Gulaab Gang back in 2014. Quiz her when she will make a comeback on the big screen and the pretty actress smiles and says "soon".

Probe Madhuri if she thinks Bollywood has changed over the years and she agrees and told, "I worked hard and gave my best. I was fortunate to have worked with someone like Saroj ji (Saroj Khan, choreographer). Our pact was to make every dance look unique and not repetitive. Now, movie making is a different ball game. Commercial and art films belong in the same universe. It's all about the right story, budget and target audience. I wish things were planned before. It would have made our jobs easier."

Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor has been preparing hard and shooting extensively for Rajkumar Hirani's Sanjay Dutt biopic.

Lately, we got our hands on pictures from the sets of the movie which blew our mind. In the pictures gone viral, Ranbir is seen striking an uncanny similarity with Dutt's latest look.

Speaking about Dutt's reaction on Ranbir's look, a source specified to a famous tabloid, "On seeing Ranbir's pictures, Sanjay was absolutely amazed. The idea of the biopic being made was a thought that was being talked about. But now that the pictures have surfaced on the internet, the reality of the movie being made and taking shape, in order to take his story to the audience, is seeping in. He is getting anxious as to how people will react to the story."

Did Ranbir get the mannerisms right? To which Sanjay told, "It is really amazing. Ranbir's pretty much there and it's unbelievable what he’s doing. I feel Ranbir's one of the best actors we have, and to top that, there's Raju Hirani."

Speaking about his look, Ranbir had previously told, "As you can see, I’m in the look of Sanjay Dutt and we have shot for more than half of the film. It feels proud that I’m part of his biopic and I’m very thankful to Vinod Sir (Vidhu Vinod Chopra) and Sanjay (Dutt) sir especially for it."

Sanju baba brings his voice!

Rajkumar Hirani famously began shooting his Sanjay Dutt biopic when he was on hand to film the actor’s release from prison on the 25th of February 2016.

The scenes will be a part of the movie that has Ranbir Kapoor playing Baba, and I’ve just learned that they won’t be Sanju’s only screen time when it comes out. Apparently the Deadly Dutt has also agreed to do voiceovers for the movie that comes out this Christmas. That means we’ll really be getting things straight from the horse’s mouth, hai na?!

Ranbir Kapoor’s plays with reel kids!

Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor is juggling between the shoots of Jagga Jasoos and the Dutt biopic. While the former has finally wrapped up, the latter has finished 60% of its shoot. Yesterday, few images of Ranbir from the shoot of Dutt biopic made their way on the web, leaving everybody speechless.

The actor, who has beefed up for his character of Sanjay Dutt, was dressed in his avatar, unquestionably looking like a mirror image of Baba. Ranbir nailed the look to perfect and people cannot stop raving about his dedication to the character and the movie.

Now, we came across few photos of Ranbir from the sets of Dutt biopic. What's cute about those pictures is that Ranbir is seen playing around and posing with two kids, who play his on-screen son and daughter. The photos are too cute for words and we are loving the companionship between the Kapoor lad and the little munchkins.

While in one pic, he is holding the little girl in his arms and posing, in the other photo, one kid is sitting on his lap whereas the little girl is seen hugging him and posing. Aren't they looking absolutely cute?!

Directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the yet-to-be-titled film also stars Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal in the lead. The movie is scheduled to release on Christmas 2017.

Never put on so much weight before, says Ranbir Kapoor on Sanjay Dutt biopic role!

Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor, who is reenacting Sanjay Dutt in a Hindi biopic on the controversial actor's life, looks heavier than usual these days. He tells he has never before put on so much weight.

"It has been an inspiring journey for me to be playing Sanjay Dutt for the silver screen. I have never put on so much weight before and now plans to reduce some weight for the next phase of shooting," Ranbir told at the launch of India's first HP Virtual Reality (VR) lounge at PVR ECX, Mall of India here on Monday.

The yet untitled movie, being directed by Rajkumar Hirani, would portray seven different phases of Sanjay Dutt's life, starting from when he was all of 22.

"It's amazing to be working with a director like Rajkumar Hirani," Ranbir, who looked elegant in a gray suit and sky blue shirt, told at the event.

Replying to question on how emerging technologies like virtual reality may impact movie-going experience, the "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" actor said that although he fears increased use of gadgets might take audiences away from cinemas, movies with good content would continue to do well at theatres.

The VR lounge at PVR ECX will allow movie-goers to experience a new dimension of entertainment while they wait for their film to begin.

It will let customers explore a whole new library of fascinating and adventurous immersive and interactive content curated from various genres like drama, fiction, science fiction, horror and action, among others.

"It is a mind-blowing experience to go through the VR experience. But being an actor, I fear that it might take away the audiences from movie theatres," he told.

Stating the good run of Varun Dhawan-starrer "Badrinath Ki Dulhania" at the box office, Ranbir told he continues to believe that "content is king".

Without discarding the importance of technology in our lives, he said that it is also important to take time out for our fellow human beings.

"Please don't get consumed by electronics," he further added.

Dia Mirza is glad to be a part of Sanjay Dutt's biopic!

Beautiful actress Dia Mirza, who will essay the role of Sanjay Dutt's wife Manyata in the actor's biopic, tells it's wonderful to be part of the project.

She is pleased the project is giving her a chance to work with one of her favorite filmmakers Rajkumar Hirani, who is directing the movie.

"I am working on Sanjay Dutt's biopic right now, and I am really excited about it. It's wonderful film to be part of, and to be directed by my favourite filmmaker," Dia said on the sidelines of the fourth day of Amazon India Fashion Week (AIFW) Autumn/ Winter 2017 here.

How easy or difficult is it to represent a real-life character on the big screen?

"I think for an actor, the work is only as difficult as a written material. With the team so sound and with such a wonderful environment out there, you feel nothing but to put your best foot forward," Dia told.

"I would like to believe that whether it is playing a real-life character or fictional character, the idea is to understand what you are doing and the purpose of your presence should matter."

"What you need to do is to take the story forward... That should matter the most," further added the actress, who has worked with Sanjay in movies like "Parineeta" and "Lage Raho Munna Bhai"

Veteran actor Paresh Rawal is essaying the role of Sunil Dutt, while Sanjay's part is being brought alive by Ranbir Kapoor in the biopic.

Dia was part of a special preview hosted by Swedish fashion retail giant H&M along with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) to introduce the new Conscious Exclusive collection of the brand at AIFW.

No Madhuri affair for Sanjay Dutt's biopic after Madhuri’s objection!

Madhuri Dixit Nene and Sanjay Dutt's love affair back in heydays was the topic of discussion for every famous daily. But post-Dutt's jail term, the affair died its natural death, and both Sanjay and Madhuri moved on with their individual lives.

Now a biopic on the life of Sanjay Dutt is in the making and Ranbir Kapoor will be seen reprising the role of the megastar. The movie will seemingly touch all the aspects of the actor's life, from drugs to his affairs.

The biopic is directed by Rajkumar Hirani and the shooting for the same has begun. Seemingly, alike all the other shocking incidents in Sanjay's life, his alleged affair with Madhuri Dixit Nene was to be featured in the movie. But as per a famous tabloid, that chapter doesn't include in the script anymore, thanks to Madhuri herself!

A source told to the tabloid, “Initially, the affair was part of the biopic. But when Madhuri got to know about it, she quickly rushed to Rajkumar asking him to remove it. Their relationship is one of the most highlighted part of Sanjay’s life, but considering the actress’ current stature, she disapproved of it. Left with no option, Hirani had to eliminate it from the film.”

The Sanjay Dutt biopic stars Dia Mirza and Vicky Kaushal. Anushka Sharma and Sonam Kapoor will be seen as the leading ladies opposite Ranbir in the film. It is slated for a Christmas 2017 release.

Sanjay Dutt biopic covers his women, parents, drug abuse, and being labelled as a terrorist, reveals Ranbir Kapoor!

Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor is essaying Sanjay Dutt in his biopic which is directed by Rajkumar Hirani. Ranbir lately opened up about the movie and told that the movie is not protecting Dutt in any way. He told that Sanjay's life would be panned out in the movie, exactly as it happened.

He revealed, "The biopic that Rajkumar Hirani is making will teach you something. It will talk about human flaws, the emotional father-son story (between Sanjay and the late Sunil Dutt), his relationship with his best friend, with the women in his life. It’s emotional, it’s funny, it’s sad, it’s bittersweet. The youth have a lot to learn from his mistakes. Sanjay’s lived his life. He owned up to his mistakes, he’s paid the price for it. He’s been through much… his mother (the late Nargis Dutt) passing away just before the premiere of his film, drug abuse, being labelled a terrorist, his failed marriages, the grind of punishment... We’re not trying to project Sanjay Dutt in any way, it’s not a propaganda film."
