I don't resemble my father, reveals Akshaye Khanna!

Actor Akshaye Khanna tells he doesn't look like his late father and actor Vinod Khanna.

Questioned if Akshaye would like to play his father's character in a biopic, Akshaye said, "To portray any real life character, you have to look like that person. I don't look anywhere close to my father... Not an option."

Vinod Khanna died in April after a prolonged illness at the age of 70. The actor was admitted to Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital in the first week of April after reportedly suffering from severe dehydration.

Questioned if he wants a biopic to be made on his father, Akshaye told, "I haven't ever thought about it so I can't say. But I think biopics by nature, I suppose as accurate as they can be, the better for an actor. It's very challenging as well as risky for an actor to portray a real life character because you are portraying some one who actually existed. So, it becomes really difficult."

Akshaye, 42, feels that one must think "10 times before portraying a real life person".

He will next be seen in "Ittefaq", a thriller movie, helmed by Abhay Chopra. It is an adaptation of the 1969 movie by the same name.

It would have been nice to have worked with Vinod Khanna after I was mature as an actor, admits Akshaye Khanna!

Akshaye Khanna, through numerous ups and downs, has accomplished 20 years in the movie industry. This year saw the ill-fated death of his father and veteran actor Vinod Khanna, and in an interview with a famous tabloid, Akshaye expressed his wish to have been able to work with his dad.

"I can’t remember a film that was offered to me where I got the chance to work with him. I worked with my dad in my first film (Himalay Putra), but it would have been nice to have worked with him after I was a little mature and experienced as an actor. I wish I had that chance," Akshaye disclosed.

When we had gotten the chance to interview the actor, Akshaye got open about the past 20 years in Bollywood. He told, "It's been beautiful. I can't say that I have any regrets, of course, one does stupid things. Especially when you start work at a very young age - when you are not mature enough to understand the responsibilities of being a professional actor. I was an especially immature person. I was 19 and I was not mature enough to understand my own responsibility. So yeah, I wish I was more mature, that's the way it was."

Akshaye further added, "I think as a journey...we've all done good films and bad films, some terrible films but I think that's going to happen in the future also. Nobody makes 100 percent correct choices except for Aamir Khan but everybody...we've been part of good films, we've been part of bad films. Some performances maybe liked, some maybe disliked but the focus should always be on the creative process. If one distances oneself from getting too affected by failure or too affected by success, so both things are easy or hard to deal with. They both have to be taken with a little pinch of salt and it's not easy. And I'm not just talking about the acting profession, I'm talking generally. In any profession, what one does - the focus should be on that. Yes, success will come, failure will come, there will be downs, there will be ups - that's part of life. As long as you want to keep the focus to improve one's self and keep the creative process going, if that's the focus then you will always be a winner."

Akshaye will next be seen in Ittefaq which is being directed by Abhay Chopra and also stars Sidharth Malhotra and Sonakshi Sinha. Ittefaq is scheduled to release on November 3, 2017.

It's an outdated concept, tells Akshaye Khanna on Censorship!

Actor Akshaye Khanna has been busy promoting his forthcoming movie, MOM. In an interview with a famous tabloid, Akhsaye was questioned about the whole concept of censorship as recently there was a hullabaloo around the censorship of the word intercourse in Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma's Jab Harry Met Sejal.

Responding to the query, Khanna told, “Censorship is an outdated concept. I agree 1,000 percent. It is completely unacceptable to a majority of the society today. Especially, the younger generation who are watching everything online — whether it’s the internet, social media — they can access the information from anywhere and nobody can stop them from doing it. So, they aren’t used to this kind of censorship."

He went on to add further, “You can’t necessarily say that certain content can’t be part of an audio-visual or a film or TV. It could be any content and if everyone else in the world can watch it, so can we.”

Explaining a bit more, Akshaye told, “If it’s a part of a film that requires that kind of a scene to be shot and you are working with a director who you can trust, I don’t think I will have a problem with it. But it has to be absolutely essential to the story."

"All of it has to be there for you to make that decision. As an actor, you cannot say, ‘I won’t do this’. You have to be open to ideas of things that you are naturally not comfortable with, but if the role requires you to do something that you may not be physically, mentally or even socially comfortable with, sometimes you can take a risk and just do it,” he told and ended conversation.
