Actor Ayushmann Khurrana tells he personally received a
mixed response to his previous release "Meri Pyaari Bindu", and
believes that somehow "Baahubali 2: The Conclusion" ate up the
business of his movie.
Questioned about his reaction to the box office performance
of "Meri Pyaari Bindu", which released in May, Ayushmann said journalists,
"I received mixed reactions at a personal level like from my family and
friends. Some people loved the film and some did not like it at all."
"But I think somehow 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion' ate
up the business of the film. May be, it would have earned more money had
'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion' not been in theatres at that time.", he
added further.
"Baahubali 2: The Conclusion", which released on
April 28, is the highest grossing movie in India.
Ayushmann will next be seen in "Bareilly ki
Barfi".
Super hit film Baahubali 2: The Conclusion made history by
registering a colossal success not just in the domestic market but even
overseas. The film went on to create a rage by minting over INR 1500 crores
worldwide. If Hindi collections are taken into consideration, the movie again
created history by earning over INR 500 crore which is an extraordinary number.
Forget 200 -300 crore club, Baahubali 2 has now become the
hallmark for any movie to be declared a hit or not. The next to face this
pressure is Salman Khan’s Tubelight. Given his megastar status, trade experts
are wondering if the movie would be able to surpass Baahubali’s record.
Salman, who is presently busy promoting Tubelight was currently
present for a media interaction, was questioned if Tubelight will be able to
break Baahubali 2’s record, to which Salman promptly told, “I doubt it is going
to break the record.”
He further clarified, “Because Bahubali is like one of a
freakish film that has happened and the Hindi film goers have been like super,
they did not care if it was a dubbed film, they did not care that it was like a
Tamil, Telugu film, a South Indian film, they went to see because they loved
the first one, so they lapped the movie on and because of the Hindi cinema
goers that film has got this numbers. Hats off to our guys who have gone and
seen the film and made it such a big hit.”
When questioned if he is feeling the box office pressure,
Salman told, “I don’t take pressure. As long as no one loses money, I am fine with
it.”
Last year in 2016, Bollywood finished the year with a bang
as Aamir Khan's Dangal smashed the box-office and
created a stir. Not only was it because of the amazing star cast that comprised
of Aamir, Sakshi Tanwar, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra, but it was also
the content of the film that enthralled the viewers. The film was directed by
Nitesh Tiwari.
In 2017, it was SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2: The
Conclusion that created an uproar and fans went berserk at the ticket
counter. It was the much-awaited sequel to Baahubali and the audience
flocked to the theaters. The star cast included Prabhas, Anushka Shetty,
Rana Daggubati and Sathyaraj.
Both the movies have been doing phenomenally well worldwide
and have crossed the INR 1500 crore mark.
When Aamir was asked if Dangal would be able to
beat Baahubali 2's worldwide collections, Khan said, "I am very
happy the film is being appreciated so much in China and across the world. But
I don’t think there should be any comparisons."
He added, "I feel there shouldn’t be a comparison
between the two. Both are good films in their own rights, both are Indian films
which are making the country proud."
On whether he has seen Baahubali 2, the actor
revealed, "I have not seen Baahubali 2 yet but it’s a very
successful film and have heard so many good things about
it."
He added, "I am proud of Baahubali as well
and as an Indian fan, I would really appreciate the fact that the film is doing
so well all over the world."
S.S. Rajamouli is the man of the moment in Indian cinema.
Filmmaker S.S Rajamouli, basking in the remarkable success of "Baahubali
2: The Conclusion", believes the world of "Baahubali" goes
beyond movies and there is so much more to explore. So, he doesn't want it to
end.
As the blockbuster movie franchise which has set new box
office records for Indian films comes to an end, viewers can still continue
rooting for the characters from the world of "Baahubali" via comics,
animation series and novels.
"We created the world of 'Baahubali' for our actors to
understand their character better. When we look at Baahubali and Bhallaladeva,
the warring brothers, what we see in the film is just a minor part of their
lives. In the 'Baahubali' universe, there is so much more worth knowing about
them. The same applies to other characters too," Rajamouli said.
With child-like enthusiasm, he further added, "The
world of 'Baahubali' is so fascinating. I wish it doesn't end. It shouldn't end
and I will pray for it."
It's the desire to tell those stories which couldn't be
included in the movies that persuaded Rajamouli and his team to explore other
mediums.
"There are backstories for each character in the world
of 'Baahubali'... Some really powerful scenes which needed to be told.
Unfortunately, film medium has its own limitation and not all stories work very
well in it. The story of Sivagami, for instance, is so powerful and exhaustive,
we realised it will work wonders as a novel," Rajamouli clarified.
Sivagami's story has been turned into a three-part novel.
"The Rise of Sivagami" by Anand Neelakantan is the first book in the
trilogy.
Speaking about the "Baahubali" universe being
expanded into an animation series titled "Baahubali: The Lost
Legends", Rajamouli told he's a big fan of the medium.
"I'm a huge fan of Disney's films. Lately, I have been
fascinated by 3D animation and I'm glad we could visualise 'Baahubali' universe
through this medium. Even though it doesn't cater to a larger audience as
cinema, it's widely popular and fast catching up in India," he told,
taking pride in partnering with Graphic India and Amazon Prime Video for this
initiative.
The second episode from "Baahubali: The Lost
Legends" will be unveiled on Friday on Amazon Prime.
Baahubali 2 has broken all the barriers and has earned INR
1450 crore worldwide and is continuing to mint more money at a steady
pace. Now, Baahubali 2 has also taken Pakistan by storm and has got the credit
of being the first dubbed regional movie to be released in Pakistan after a
long time. SS Rajamouli's movie has earned INR 4.5 crore at the box
office.
Business Development Head of Arka Media Works, said a famous
tabloid that the film was released in close to 100 screens in Pakistan last
week. He also told, “The feedback we have received from there indicates that
the audiences have absolutely loved the film. It is a huge success in all the
major cities in Pakistan. The response to the film across the border has proved
that story-telling can cut across all barriers and rule over the
box-office."
As per veteran Pakistan distributor Amjad Rasheed, who
released the movie in Pakistan, “The film has got a huge response in Pakistan
especially the single screens, this despite the fact that it purports mythology
and Hindu tradition to a certain extent. I guess it is the daredevil action and
the thrill in the movie, as much as the mind-blowing special effects that have
appealed to the Pakistan audiences."
Speaking about the business angle, Rasheed added, “That’s
the business that Badrinath Ki Dulhania had last done in Pakistan. The film was
a huge success here. So far Baahubali 2 has done a business in the range of INR
4.5 cr so far and I am expecting it to continue with its steady run though we
have Hindi Medium and Half Girlfriend releasing this week."
Baahubali 2 is an epic, larger-than-life and a box office
success. It has broken all kind of barricades and is all set to earn INR
1500 crore at the global market. But, now, there's something
that will shock you totally. As per a report in a famous tabloid, the Singapore
censor board has granted Baahubali 2: The Conclusion an NC16 certification,
which means the movie is not accessible to any viewership under the age of 16.
The chairperson of Central Board of Film Certification says,
"We granted Baahubali 2: The Conclusion a ‘UA’ with virtually no cuts. In
Singapore, they found Baahubali too violent. The war scenes, especially of
soldiers being beheaded, were taken to be excessively gruesome by their censor
board. In many countries of Asia and Europe, more Bollywood films get ‘A’
certificate than we do in India."
He further added, "Our mythology and
religious scriptures have a lot of violent images of rakshasas being beheaded,
etc. So, our children grow up hearing these tales of violence. They are not
scared by mythological mayhem. Also, in India censorship is about pacifying
sentiments rather than doing the right things. If we cut one shot of a
beheading we are branded anti-religious. If we shorten the duration of a kiss
we are prudes. And if we delete a shot of boy masturbating another boy (in
Moonlight) we are branded homophobic."
S.S. Rajamouli’s film Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is still
ruling box office. The film collected INR 125 crore at the box office
on Day One. Baahubali: The Conclusion proved to be the highest first day
grosser in the history of domestic box-office.
The film's Hindi version has earned INR 392 crore in
its two weeks run at the box office. Well, the collections has crossed Dangal's
lifetime collection at the Indian box office. Dangal collected INR 387.39
crore.
Blockbuster film Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is creating
history as it continues to break record after record becoming the first Indian
movie to collect over INR 1000 crore globally.
But, lately the gossip mills were abuzz with the reports of
actor Tamannaah Bhatia, who plays the role of Avanthika in
the film, being annoyed with director SS Rajamouli after a few scenes of hers
were edited. Tamannah who had a meatier role in the first part was only
restricted to 3-4 scenes in the second part.
But, now the actor has come out and rejected all these
reports calling it 'baseless'. “This is imagination of somebody who is very
jobless. I am and will always be thankful to Rajamouli sir for casting me as
Avantika. This news is baseless and I am very happy that I worked in this
film,” Tamannaah said to a famous tabloid.
She further revealed, “I always knew what my role was. I
have great respect for Rajamouli sir and I am proud to be part of such a cult
film. This film has changed my life as an actor and has absolutely raised the
bar for everyone in the film industry."
Clarifying why Tamannaah had lesser scenes in
Baahubali 2, writer KV Vijayendra Prasad had told, "Baahubali -
The Conclusion happened in the flash back where she can’t be there so there is
no scope for her to be included in second."
Directed by SS Rajamouli, the movie stars Prabhas, Ranna
Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah Bhatia among others in key roles.
Film Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has been on a
record-breaking extravaganza as it continues to rake in numbers ever passing
minute. The film collected over INR 1000 crore worldwide within 10 days of its
release. The Hindi dubbed version of the film itself has now entered the INR
300 crore.
Previously, only four movies to have entered this club are
Dangal, PK, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan. But, what is interesting here is that
Baahubali 2 has managed to do this without any Khan-backing or any major advertising
tactic.
The movie also collected around INR 70 crore in the second
weekend- which is better than the first three days collections of the biggest movies
released this year- Raees [59.83 crore], Jolly LLB 2 [50.46 crore]
and Badrinath Ki Dulhania [43.05 crore].
The film stars Prabhas playing the titular role and Rana
Daggubati as Bhallala Deva, Sathyaraj, Ramya Krishna, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah
Bhatia in principal roles. This SS Rajamouli's magnum opus collected INR 125
crore at the box office on day one.
Prabhas yesterday penned down an open letter thanking his
fans and Rajamouli for believing in him after the film crossed INR 1000
crore.
S.S. Rajamouli's masterpiece Baahubali 2: The Conclusion
released on April 28, this year. And finally, the audiences have the answer of the
question - Why did Katappa kill Baahubali?
Film Baahubali 2: The Conclusion
has finally created a history as the movie has earned INR 785
crore internationally and has finally crossed the lifetime
collections of Aamir Khan's Dangal which stood tall at INR 741 crore.
There has been a pattern that not numerous sequels work at the box
office, but if it's a franchise like Baahubali, all such things stand
baseless.
Baahubali 2: The Conclusion's biz is still strong and now
it'll be interesting to see is the movie crosses INR 1000 crore at the
global market. Going by the figures, the nett collections are INR 495
crore. Gross collection figures are INR 630 crores and overseas the
film has raked in INR 155 crore.
As per to Great India Films, the US distributor of Baahubali
2, the film minted $12.6 million as of Wednesday, officially
surpassing the lifetime earnings of $12.3 million of Dangal.
The film features Prabhas playing the titular role and Rana
Daggubati as Bhallala Deva, Satyaraj, Ramya Krishna, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah
in principal roles. Prabhas-Anushka starrer collected INR 125 crore at
the box office on Day One. Baahubali: The Conclusion proved to be the highest
first day grosser in the history of domestic box-office.
In terms of advance booking numbers, the movie recorded the
biggest advance booking ever, with an earning of INR 30 crore nett.
The earlier record was held by Sultan at INR 21 crore.
Megastar Rajinikanth on Sunday described S.S Rajamouli's
"Baahubali 2: The Conclusion", which has already been adjudged a hit,
as Indian cinema's pride. He even saluted the entire team for their hard work.
Calling it a "masterpiece", Rajinikanth posted,
"'Baahubali 2' Indian cinema's pride. My salutes to god's own child
Rajamouli and his team."
While the first part, "Baahubali: The Beginning",
released in July 2015 and minted over Rs 600 crore at the box office,
"Baahubali 2: The Conclusion" was supposed to come out in 2016.
But, the makers took time and released the movie on April 28
in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
With an estimated earnings of Rs 121 crore from first day
across four languages, the second part in the "Baahubali" franchise
is said to have registered the biggest opening for an Indian film.
Previously, SS Rajamouli's epic drama Baahubali-The
Beginning blazed across Indian screens and made every Indian ask, ''Why did
Kattapa kill Baahubali?” and finally, the answer is here in the form of
Baahubali-The Conclusion starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty,
Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj and others.
As per story, Amarendra Baahubali (Prabhas) and Bhalla Deva (Rana
Daggubati) are cousins raised by the same mother, Sivagami (Ramya Krishnan) who
is also the reigning Queen of Mahishmati. Amarendra is orphaned in his
childhood and despite the fact that Bhalla is her own son, the Queen wants to
crown Amarendra the King of Mahishmati because she feels that he has the true
makings of a ruler and patron. Bhalla is piqued. His father and he conspire to
overthrow Baahubali. And they use Kattappa (Sathyaraj) and the Sivagami as pawns
in their game.
Starting off from where the prequel concluded, Kattapa
starts reciting the tale of Amarendra Baahubali (Prabhas) and Bhallal (Rana),
the crown princes of Mahishmati. When the queen (Ramya) decides to crown
Baahubali as the king instead of the alleged rightful successor Bhallal, the
latter decides to seize the throne at any cost, setting the stage for
treachery, deceit and civil war.
Baahubali, while travelling secretly in his kingdom to learn
more about his subjects, comes across Devsena (Anushka Shetty), an aggressive
warrior-princess who he promptly falls for. But, this complicates the state of
affairs at Mahishmati, leading to the exile of Amarendra and his bride Devsena
by the queen, who crowns Bhallal as the king. On realizing that the people in
the kingdom still worship Amarendra Baahubali, Bhallal decides to kill his
cousin brother in order to abolish any potential threats to his sovereignty.
What happens next? How does Bhallal manage to defeat Amarendra? Will his son
Mahendra Baahubali revenge his father's death?
Baahubali has been sketched out as such a symbol of strength
and supremacy that he makes you root for him throughout. Prabhas is great as
father and son. Prabhas, who plays the central role, deserves due appreciation
for his role as Baahubali, a character which will remind you of heroes straight
out of mythological epics- Baahubali is as noble as Rama, as strong and ferocious
as Bhima and as gallant as Arjuna. Prabhas completely owns the role and is a
sheer delight to watch, whether he is romancing a princess or crushing his enemies
with an impressive fierceness. Rana, who plays the opponent Bhallal, has such a
strong and striking physical presence that his mere glower will make you
shiver. Anushka Shetty, Ramya and Sathyaraj are reliable enough and provide competent
support to the story.
Film Baahubali-The Conclusion was a praiseworthy successor
to 'Baahubali-The Beginning'. The film has elements of 'Mahabharata' (Kattapa
brings to mind Bhishma while the rivalry between Baahubali and Bhallal has the
same intensity of that between Bhima and Duryodhana), but despite this… or
maybe because of this, the movie not only captures your attention throughout
but also makes it reasonably relevant.
Indian movie lovers must salute Rajamouli for his vision and
determination. He once again gives us a magnificent visual treat with engaging
screenplay. Of course it is CGI and VFX that grab you in your seat, but
Baahubali also takes you on an emotional rollercoaster ride. The romance between
Devasena and Amarendra has the Titanic type passion. While the acts of the lead
cast are all convincing.
The movie is so grand, so larger-than-life and so visually engaging
that you will be imprisoned in your seats from the opening credits onwards. It
is obvious that a lot of hard work and effort has gone into every frame. The
cinematography, the special effects and the choreography of the war scenes are completely
breathtaking and will bring to mind Hollywood hits like 'Troy' or '300'.
Overall, film Baahubali-The Conclusion is praiseworthy to
watch for larger-than-life characters, eye-catching special effects and
powerful performances.
Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has already hit the screens
today and the admirers have gone crazy to catch up with the movie screening all
over the country.
Now, as per a famous tabloid, the film will have six shows
in a day in each of the languages - Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam. And,
within 24 hours over one million tickets were sold after the bookings were
opened worldwide.
Speaking about it to a famous tabloid, the COO of a leading
movie ticketing platform specified, "The site is experiencing an
unprecedented advance booking for Baahubali 2. We have already sold over 1
million tickets across languages, even when the bookings have been live for
just over a day. Though Baahubali 2 is largely perceived to be loved by South
Indian audience, the response from Hindi speaking markets has been highly
encouraging as well"
He further added, "Once all the cinemas in South come
out with their respective schedules of the movie screening, we expect the sales
of online tickets might increase at a fast pace."
As per to a trade site, the South versions
of Baahubali: The Conclusion have all opened to an earth-shattering
numbers. The states of Nizam / Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala are
enjoying almost 90-100 occupancy. However, Tamil Nadu is less than the others.
Hindi version is only 12-15% short of the South versions and still will be
higher than many Hindi films.
Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is directed by SS Rajamouli
and is the sequel to 2015's magnum opusBaahubali: The Beginning. Produced by
Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni, the film stars Prabhas in titular role
along with Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan,
Nassar in pivotal roles.
Baahubali 2 is about two weeks away from the release
and the enthusiasm to see the second installment on the big screen amongst the admirers
is palpable. The film, with its first part, created history in terms of box
office and left a huge question in the minds of the audience - Why Katappa
killed Baahubali?
Lately, when director S.S. Rajamouli was asked about his movie
and its characters, which have now become iconic, he said to a famous tabloid
that he has been living with those characters for five years and hence he is
very emotional about them.
Rajamouli reveals, "My entire team has been working on
this project for five years. It all started with my dad’s (Vijayendra Prasad)
narration of individual characters of Baahubali. The electrifying feeling
jolted me for more than a month, and every character stayed with
me."
He continues, "I would cry, laugh and get emotional
while thinking about the characters. I wanted the audiences to experience what
I had felt when my father first told me the story."
When questioned, what to expect from the second installment
that comes out soon, the director assured, "In the first part, we just
introduced the characters. We never showed the in-depth drama between them. The
second installment will showcase the emotions and drama on a better
scale."
Directed by S.S. Rajamouli, Baahubali 2 stars
Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah Bhatia, Rana Daggubati in the lead. The
movie releases on April 28, 2017. The Hindi version of the movie is being
distributed by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions
along with Anil Thadani.
When the music album of Baahubali - The Beginning released
in 2015, the music wasn't instantaneously famous. However in Hindi, it couldn't
really pick up and even after the release, all it did was mainly provide
peripheral support. Now that the music album of the sequel, Baahubali 2 - The
Conclusion, is arriving with M. M. Kreem as the composer and Manoj Muntashir as
the lyricist, everyone should wait to hear if the soundtrack goes beyond being
transactional.
1. Jiyo Re Bahubali
The album begins with Daler Mehndi’s opening track Jiyo Re
Bahubali. Yet again, as is anticipated from a song rendered by him, there is
certain energetic appeal to the entire affair as the sound of Baahubali is
heard loud and clear. He is joined soon enough by Ramya Behara and Sanjeev
Chimmalgi and while former brings certain coolness to the affair, latter fills
in the song with the glory and praises for Baahubali. A situational track that
is put together to showcase the valor of Baahubali.
2. Veeron Ke Veer Aa
The next one is Veeron Ke Veer Aa which actually makes for a
good hear even though it is straight out of the sound of 90s that was widespread
when Hindi dubbed soundtracks from South were released abundantly. This one has
been sung well though by Aditi Paul and there is certain mix of
love-n-seduction in her voice that carries certain appeal that goes with the
song of this genre. Deepu is her accompanying male partner and while he does
his job sensibly well, the song primarily belongs to Aditi. A good exciting
picturisation should help the song get further popular.
3. Soja Zara
The next song is about 'Kanha', 'Yashoda' and 'Gopiyan'
which comes in the form of Soja Zara. Yet another number which has a
traditional appeal to it and is considered in Indian classical music, this one
is rendered by Madhushree and is about 'Gopiyan' complaining about 'Kanha' and
his naughty antics. This situational song is harmonious.
4. Jay-Jaykara
The next song is Kailash Kher’s is Jay-Jaykara. It is
typical Kher’s version. The song have a vociferous appeal.
5. Shivam
The last song is 'Shivam' which is sung by 'Kaala Bhairava'
and reminds one of the sound of Baahubali. It is a tuneful number.
The music of Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion is situational and
melodious. However Baahubali still had songs like 'Manohari', 'Panchhi Bole'
and 'Kaun Hai Voh' that had some sort of recall value, the sequel doesn't throw
any such song at least for now.
The songs Veeron Ke Veer Aa and Jiyo Re Bahubali are
melodious and energetic numbers.
