Indian Film Industry Pauses in Mourning: 'Raja Shivaji' Song Launch and Other Major Projects Delayed as Tribute to Asha Bhosle!
The sudden demise of the legendary Asha Bhosle on
April 12, 2026, has brought the Indian film industry to a respectful
standstill. As the nation prepares for her final rites today at Shivaji Park,
several production houses have announced the suspension of promotional
activities and film shoots to honor the "Queen of Versatility."
'Raja Shivaji' Anthem Postponed: A Humble Tribute
One of the most anticipated musical releases of the year,
the "Chhatrapati" anthem from Riteish Deshmukh’s magnum opus Raja
Shivaji, has been officially deferred.
Scheduled for launch on April 13, the
makers—including Jio Studios and Riteish Deshmukh—released a
statement expressing their deep grief.
"The voice that ruled our hearts for decades has fallen
silent. With the passing of the legendary Asha Bhosle, we mourn the loss of a
golden chapter in music. As a mark of respect, we are postponing the release of
the Raja Shivaji anthem, ‘Chhatrapati.’"
The anthem, composed by the powerhouse duo Ajay-Atul
and choreographed by Remo D'Souza, is a tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji
Maharaj. New release dates for the song are expected to be announced after the
official mourning period.
Dharma Productions and Other Major Delays
It isn't just the Maratha epic that has hit the pause
button. Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions also announced a delay for the
title track of 'Chand Mera Dil', starring Ananya Panday and Lakshya.
Originally set for a Monday release, the launch has been pushed to April 14.
Other industry-wide impacts include:
- Shoot
Cancellations: Several major film sets in Film City, Mumbai,
reported "pack-up" early this morning as a mark of respect.
- Trailer
Releases: Two mid-budget regional films have reportedly held back
their digital trailer launches to ensure the focus remains on the
legendary singer’s legacy.
- Music
Events: Multiple concert promotions and studio recording sessions
across Mumbai have been rescheduled for later this week.
A Legacy Beyond Projects
While projects are being paused, the industry’s digital
space is flooded with memories of Asha Tai’s final recording—a haunting
collaboration with the virtual band Gorillaz for their 2026 album, The
Mountain. The industry is remembering her not just as a singer, but as a
bridge between the classical era and the modern digital age of music.
