Shahid Kapoor Starrer 'O' Romeo' Sails Past Rs 67 Crore Worldwide Despite Drop!

'O' Romeo' Box Office Collection Day 6 and Day 7 (LIVE): Shahid Kapoor Starrer Sails Past Rs 67 Crore Worldwide Despite Drop!

Shahid Kapoor’s latest cinematic outing, 'O' Romeo', directed by the visionary Vishal Bhardwaj, continues to hold its ground at the ticket windows. Despite facing the typical midweek blues and a noticeable drop in footfall, the romantic action-thriller has successfully crossed a significant milestone, sailing past the Rs 67 crore mark in worldwide gross collections.

As the film completes its first week, let’s dive into the day-wise breakdown and the factors influencing its steady, yet cautious, theatrical run.

Midweek Struggle: Day 6 and Day 7 Performance

After a strong opening weekend fueled by the Valentine's Day fever, the film witnessed the inevitable weekday slide.

  • Day 6 (Wednesday): The film collected approximately Rs 3.50 crore net in India. While this was a dip from Tuesday's Rs 5.35 crore, it indicated a level of stability in urban centers and multiplexes.
  • Day 7 (Thursday): Early estimates and morning trends suggest a collection in the range of Rs 3.00 - 3.50 crore. This brings the first-week domestic total to approximately Rs 47 crore.

The overall occupancy on Wednesday hovered around 9%, with late-night shows performing better than morning and afternoon screenings.

Shahid Kapoor’s Winning Streak?

Interestingly, 'O' Romeo' has already outperformed Shahid Kapoor’s previous theatrical release, Deva, which ended its global run at Rs 55.8 crore. It has also surpassed the lifetime earnings of the cult classic Kaminey, officially becoming Shahid's 7th highest-grossing film in India.

Note: The film's success is particularly notable given the clash with Tu Yaa Main (starring Adarsh Gourav and Shanaya Kapoor) and ongoing competition from Border 2 and Mardaani 3.

The Road Ahead: The Crucial Second Weekend

While the film has "sailed past" the 67 crore mark, the coming weekend is the true litmus test. With no major Hindi releases scheduled for the upcoming Friday, 'O' Romeo' has a clear window to:

  1. Hit the Rs 50 crore mark in domestic nett collections by Friday evening.
  2. Target the Rs 80-90 crore club worldwide by the end of its second weekend.

The film's gritty narrative—based on Hussain Zaidi's Mafia Queens of Mumbai—and the chemistry between Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri continue to be the primary draws for the audience.

Kantara: Chapter 1: Prequel Masterpiece or Mythological Spectacle? Review and Box Office Analysis!

Kantara: Chapter 1: Prequel Masterpiece or Mythological Spectacle? Review and Box Office Analysis!

Kantara: Chapter 1
is not just a film; it's a monumental cinematic ritual. Rishab Shetty, returning in his dual role as director and lead actor, successfully charts the epic origin story of the divine protector from the 2022 global blockbuster Kantara. Backed by Hombale Films, this mythological prequel delves deep into the ancient lore of coastal Karnataka, blending raw action with profound spirituality.

The film's opening day collection proves its massive anticipation, with box office estimates suggesting a ₹60 Crore+ net opening in India across all languages, making it one of the biggest Kannada openers of the year, second only to KGF: Chapter 2 in the Hindi belt.

The Plot: Unveiling the Origin of the Daiva

Set during the reign of the Kadamba Dynasty in 300 CE, Kantara: Chapter 1 functions as the foundational chapter of the legend. The film tells the story of Berme (Rishab Shetty), a formidable warrior and Naga Sadhu, whose life becomes inextricably linked to the sacred Kantara Forest, known to the locals as Eshwarana Hoodota (God's Garden).

The central conflict is the generational tussle between the tribal community and the avaricious ruling monarchy, personified by King Rajashekara (Jayaram) and his son, the haughty Prince Kulashekara (Gulshan Devaiah). As the King's greed for the forest's immense resources and land rights escalates, Berme rises as the fiery, possessed protector of his people, setting the stage for the creation of the Panjurli Daiva and Guliga Daiva traditions—the very spirits at the heart of the Kantara universe.

The introduction of Princess Kanakavathi (Rukmini Vasanth) adds an intriguing layer of emotional and political complexity to the epic saga.

Performance and Technical Grandeur

Rishab Shetty: The Force of Nature

Rishab Shetty delivers an immersive and ferocious performance. Unlike the slightly naive Shiva in the original, Berme is a figure destined for divinity, and Shetty perfectly embodies the character's journey from a fierce warrior to a man possessed by the primal forces of the forest. His Bhoota Kola renditions, particularly his portrayal of the Guliga and Chamundi possessions, are elevated spectacles that are already being hailed as iconic cinematic moments.

The Supporting Cast

The ensemble cast provides strong support, grounding the epic scale with solid performances. Jayaram as the King and Gulshan Devaiah as the antagonist Prince Kulashekara successfully build the tension and political malice that drives the narrative. Rukmini Vasanth shines in a role that balances elegance with underlying emotional strength.

Technical Brilliance

  • Cinematography: Arvind S. Kashyap trades the raw, rustic look of the first film for a much grander, high-budget visual spectacle, making the Kadamba kingdom and the ancient Kantara Forest look breathtakingly huge.
  • Music: B. Ajaneesh Loknath once again proves to be the film’s soul, with a haunting, high-energy score that perfectly complements the action and the spiritual core of the film. The powerful background music elevates every possession and battle sequence.

The Verdict: A Necessary Origin Story

Kantara: Chapter 1 is an ambitious, spectacle-heavy prequel that successfully expands the mythological universe established by its predecessor. While some critics note the plot occasionally feels cluttered by its sheer ambition to cover centuries of folklore and political history, the film is ultimately a stunning achievement in Indian mythology cinema.

It is a powerful blend of action, folklore, and spiritual drama that delivers on its promise of a massive theatrical experience. For fans of the original and newcomers alike, it’s a must-watch film that confirms Rishab Shetty as a visionary director capable of creating truly unique pan-India blockbusters rooted in regional cultural depth.

Final Rating: 4/5 Stars (A Divine and Monumental Cinematic Experience)

Demon Slayer Makes History! The Anime Film That Took India by Storm!

Demon Slayer Makes History! The Anime Film That Took India by Storm!

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Breaks Records in India with ₹48 Cr Weekend, Becomes Biggest Animated Film Ever

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has made history at the Indian box office, raking in a record-breaking ₹48 crore weekend. Discover how this anime film shattered expectations and became the highest-grossing animated movie in India, surpassing even Hollywood and domestic hits.

The anime revolution in India has reached a fever pitch, and its new champion is none other than Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle. The highly anticipated film has not only met but far exceeded expectations, smashing box office records with a monumental opening weekend collection of ₹48 crore. This stunning performance has solidified its place as the biggest ever animated film in India, a landmark achievement that signals a major shift in the country's cinematic landscape.

A Record-Shattering Opening

Released on September 12, 2025, the first part of the final battle trilogy for Demon Slayer had an explosive start. The advance bookings were a clear indicator of the massive fan frenzy, with early morning shows starting as early as 5:00 a.m. in major metropolitan cities like Pune, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, a first for an anime film in India.

  • Day 1 (Friday): ₹15 crore
  • Day 2 (Saturday): ₹16.25 crore
  • Day 3 (Sunday): ₹17 crore

This incredible run has brought the total box office collection to over ₹48.25 crore in just four days, a figure that is expected to climb even higher. The weekend surge, in particular, was a testament to the film's immense popularity, with Sunday collections showing a significant jump.

Outperforming the Competition

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle's success is even more impressive when compared to its competition. The film has outperformed several domestic and Hollywood releases, proving that high-quality, culturally resonant anime can attract a mainstream audience in India. The film's Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil dubbed versions contributed significantly to its wide reach, demonstrating the growing demand for dubbed anime content.

A New Era for Anime in India

The monumental success of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is not an isolated event but a culmination of a growing trend. While Hollywood animated films like Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Disney/Pixar movies have had strong runs, and the Indian film Mahavatar Narsimha has been a huge hit, Demon Slayer's record-breaking debut marks a new benchmark for Japanese animation in the country.

This success can be attributed to several factors:

  1. Massive Fanbase: The Demon Slayer series has a cult-like following in India, with its previous seasons and movies generating significant buzz.
  2. Strategic Release: The film's release in multiple languages and on over 750 screens ensured a wide reach and accessibility for fans across the country.
  3. Critical and Fan Acclaim: The film's stunning animation, intense action sequences, and emotional storytelling have been praised by critics and audiences alike.

The triumph of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle at the Indian box office is a landmark moment. It is a clear signal to distributors and production houses that the Indian market is ripe for high-quality anime content. As the anime community in India continues to grow, we can expect more such record-breaking releases that will redefine the country's entertainment landscape.

Kesari Chapter 2: Unveiling the Untold Valor - A Powerful Sequel!

Kesari Chapter 2: Unveiling the Untold Valor - A Powerful Sequel!

Following the roaring success of Kesari (2019), which depicted the heroic Battle of Saragarhi, Kesari Chapter 2 emerges to shed light on another significant yet relatively untold chapter of Indian bravery. Starring the powerhouse trio of Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday, and R Madhavan, this historical drama promises to deliver a compelling narrative of courage, sacrifice, and unwavering patriotism. Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, Kesari Chapter 2 aims to resonate with audiences by exploring a lesser-known story of Indian resilience.

Synopsis:

While the first Kesari focused on the legendary battle fought by 21 Sikh soldiers against thousands of Afghan tribesmen, Kesari Chapter 2 delves into a different, equally inspiring event from India's history. The film aims to bring to the forefront an "untold story" of valor, showcasing the bravery and determination of Indian soldiers in a challenging and pivotal moment. While the exact historical event remains under wraps to maintain anticipation, the narrative is expected to highlight the unwavering spirit and sacrifice of ordinary individuals who rose to extraordinary circumstances. Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday, and R Madhavan are anticipated to portray key characters integral to this historical event, bringing their nuanced performances to a story that deserves to be told on a grand cinematic scale.

Plot: The movie centers on C. Sankaran Nair (Akshay Kumar), a renowned Indian lawyer and Viceroy's Council member who was first assigned by the British to look into the slaughter in the hopes of receiving a report that would support their position. Nair challenges the narrative of the British Empire by suing the Crown and General Reginald Dyer for genocide after learning of the horrifying truth of Dyer's ordered massacre of defenseless villagers in Amritsar.

Nair fights against Neville McKinley (R. Madhavan), a cynical Anglo-Indian lawyer with a personal grudge sent to defend the British, with the help of a teenage rebel named Pargat Singh (Krish Rao) and a resolute law student named Dilreet Gill (Ananya Panday). While Nair's fight for justice ignites a wave of patriotic resistance, the fierce legal battle reveals the colonial suppression of truth and media manipulation.

Cast and Crew:

  • Director: Karan Singh Tyagi
  • Producers: Hiroo Yash Johar, Aruna Bhatia, Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Amritpal Singh Bindra, Anand Tiwari
  • Starring:
    • Akshay Kumar
    • Ananya Panday
    • R Madhavan
    • Regina Cassandra
  • Music Director: Shashwat Sachdev, Kavita Seth–Kanishk Seth
  • Cinematography: Debojeet Ray
  • Editor: Nitin Baid
  • Writer: Karan Singh Tyagi, Amritpal Singh Bindra, Sumit Saxena (Dialogues)

Review:

Kesari Chapter 2 has generated significant buzz, particularly with Katrina Kaif's early review expressing her pride in the film and the performances of Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday, and R Madhavan in bringing this "untold story" to life. Critics who have had early screenings have lauded the film's commitment to historical accuracy (wherever applicable for an "untold story"), the powerful performances of the lead actors, and the emotional depth of the narrative. Akshay Kumar is expected to deliver another compelling portrayal of a determined leader, while Ananya Panday and R Madhavan's roles are anticipated to add significant layers to the storytelling. The film's direction is likely to focus on creating an immersive and impactful experience, bringing the historical setting and the intensity of the events to the screen with authenticity.

However, some reviews might point out the challenges of narrating a lesser-known historical event and the potential for cinematic liberties. The film's success will likely hinge on its ability to engage audiences emotionally while staying true to the spirit of the historical context.

Box Office Performance:

Riding on the success of its predecessor and the star power of its cast, Kesari Chapter 2 is expected to have a strong opening at the box office. The patriotic theme and the promise of an "untold story" of bravery are likely to resonate with a wide audience. The film's performance will depend on word-of-mouth, critical reception, and its ability to connect with viewers on an emotional level. It is anticipated to be a significant contender in the Bollywood box office landscape of 2025.

Historical Significance and "Untold Story":

The core appeal of Kesari Chapter 2 lies in its promise to unveil an "untold story" of Indian valor. This approach offers a fresh perspective on the nation's rich history, moving beyond well-documented events. By focusing on a lesser-known act of bravery, the film aims to educate and inspire audiences with stories that might have been overlooked by mainstream narratives. The filmmakers have a responsibility to handle the historical context with sensitivity and respect, ensuring that the essence of the real events and the sacrifices made are honored.

Conclusion:

Kesari Chapter 2 holds the potential to be a powerful and impactful cinematic experience. With a talented cast led by Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday, and R Madhavan, and the promise of an "untold story" of Indian courage, the film aims to build upon the legacy of Kesari while carving its own distinct identity. By shedding light on a lesser-known act of bravery, Kesari Chapter 2 has the opportunity to not only entertain but also to educate and instill a sense of pride in the nation's rich and diverse history. The anticipation surrounding its release is high, and audiences are eager to witness the untold valor unfold on the big screen.

Jaat (2025): Sunny Deol Roars Back in a Mass Action Entertainer!

Jaat (2025): Sunny Deol Roars Back in a Mass Action Entertainer!

The 2025 Hindi action film Jaat marks a significant comeback for veteran action star Sunny Deol. Directed by Gopichand Malineni, known for his work in Telugu cinema, Jaat promises a high-octane, mass-appealing cinematic experience. The film, which hit theaters on April 10, 2025, also features a strong ensemble cast including Randeep Hooda, Regina Cassandra, Saiyami Kher, and Vineet Kumar Singh. Set against a backdrop of injustice and brutality in a remote village, Jaat follows a determined protagonist's fight to restore order.

Synopsis:

In a lawless village where violence reigns, even divine intervention seems hesitant. Bharathi (Regina Cassandra) poignantly remarks that even God fears to tread upon this Lanka. Amidst this chaos, where black money and corpses are rampant, enters Jaat (Sunny Deol). He arrives with a singular intent: to deliver justice and safeguard the helpless villagers from the tyranny of the ruthless Ranatunga (Randeep Hooda) and his oppressive regime. The narrative unfolds the reasons behind Balbeer Pratap Singh's (Sunny Deol's character's name as per one source) confrontation with Ranatunga, the truths unearthed by their clash, and the identity of those Jaat strives to protect. The film delves into the backstory connecting Jaat and his formidable adversary, Ranatunga, promising a thrilling and action-packed journey.

Cast and Crew:

  • Director: Gopichand Malineni (making his Hindi directorial debut)
  • Producers: Naveen Yerneni, Yalamanchili Ravi Shankar, T. G. Vishwa Prasad, Umesh Kumar Bansal
  • Starring:
    • Sunny Deol as Balbeer Pratap Singh/Jaat

    • Ramya Krishnan as Vasundhara (President of India)
    • Zarina Wahab as Amma
    • Prashant Bajaj as Sandy (Ranatunga and Somulu's younger brother)

  • Dialogues: Sai Madhav Burra, Saurabh Gupta
  • Screenplay: Gopichand Malineni, Srinivas Gavireddy, Kundan Pandey
  • Story: Gopichand Malineni

Review:

Jaat has been largely received as a quintessential mass action entertainer that caters to Sunny Deol's core fanbase and audiences who enjoy high-voltage action. Critics note that while the storyline might feel somewhat routine, Gopichand Malineni's treatment and approach keep the audience engaged. Sunny Deol is praised for his portrayal of the mass hero, delivering powerful action sequences and his trademark punch dialogues that are sure to resonate with his fans. Randeep Hooda's performance as the menacing antagonist has also garnered appreciation, with his face-off scenes with Sunny Deol being highlighted as well-executed. Regina Cassandra's portrayal of Bharathi has been noted for its captivating and dangerous allure.

However, some reviews point out that the film's reliance on action sometimes overshadows the emotional depth and logic of the plot. The loudness of the background score by Thaman S has also been a point of discussion, with some finding it overwhelming. Despite these drawbacks, Jaat is generally considered an okay watch for those who enjoy loud, action-packed movies with strong performances from its lead actors.

Box Office Performance:

Jaat has had a decent run at the box office since its release on April 10, 2025. By its tenth day, the film had earned an estimated ₹66.86 crore net in India. Worldwide, the movie has grossed over ₹82 crore. While facing competition from other releases like Kesari Chapter 2, Jaat has shown good performance, particularly in single-screen theaters. It has already become one of Sunny Deol's top-grossing films in recent years, nearing the lifetime collection of Gadar: Ek Prem Katha.

Controversy:

Recently, Jaat has faced some controversy with a case being lodged against the actors and creators for allegedly hurting religious sentiments in Jalandhar, Punjab. This controversy has slightly impacted the film's earnings in certain regions.

Conclusion:

Jaat serves as a powerful comeback vehicle for Sunny Deol, delivering the action and intensity that his fans expect. With strong performances from the lead cast and Gopichand Malineni's mass-oriented direction, the film has managed to perform reasonably well at the box office. Despite some criticisms regarding its plot and execution, Jaat stands as a testament to Sunny Deol's enduring appeal as an action hero in Bollywood. The announcement of a sequel, Jaat 2, indicates the makers' confidence in the franchise and the audience's appetite for more of this action-packed saga.
