Is 'If Wishes Could Kill' Based on a True Story? Facts and Synopsis of the K-Drama!
The era of "K-Horror" is reaching a terrifying new
peak. Following the global success of All of Us Are Dead and Sweet
Home, Netflix is back with its first-ever Young Adult (YA) occult horror
series from South Korea: If Wishes Could Kill (formerly known by
the working title Wish Your Death).
Set to release on April 24, 2026, this eight-part
series blends high-school drama with a deadly supernatural countdown that is
already being compared to Squid Game for its high-stakes tension.
Synopsis: Be Careful What You App For
The story is set within the halls of the prestigious Seorin
High School. A group of five friends stumbles upon a mysterious mobile
application named "Girigo" (a word meaning "to
commemorate" or "honor").
The app promises to grant the user’s deepest, most desperate
desires. However, every wish comes with a lethal catch: once the wish is
granted, a death warning appears on the user’s phone, initiating a
literal countdown to their demise. As their classmates begin to die in sudden,
unexplained ways, the group must race to uncover the app's dark origins and
break the curse before their own timers hit zero.

3 Interesting Facts About If Wishes Could Kill
- A
"Kingdom" Connection: The series is directed by Park

global hit Kingdom Season 2 and co-directed the superhero
epic Moving. His expertise in blending action with
atmospheric horror is a highlight of the show.
