Kara Day 7 Box Office: Dhanush and Mamitha Baiju's Heist Drama Crosses ₹40 Crore Worldwide Amidst Weekday Slump!
The Dhanush-led heist drama Kara concluded its first
seven days in theaters with an underwhelming performance at the domestic box
office. Despite high expectations for the collaboration between Dhanush and Por
Thozhil director Vignesh Raja, the film struggled to maintain momentum
during its first week.
Wednesday Collection and Weekday Dip
On its seventh day (Wednesday, May 6), Kara saw its
collections slip further. The film earned approximately Rs 1.85 crore gross
(Rs 1.58 crore net) in India, marking a 15 percent drop from Tuesday’s
already low figures.
The downward trend began immediately after its first
extended weekend, which had brought in roughly Rs 27.50 crore. Since
Monday, the film has faced significant drops, with daily net earnings falling
below the Rs 2 crore mark.
7-Day Box Office Breakdown (India Gross)
After one week of its theatrical run, the total domestic
gross for Kara stands at Rs 33.50 crore.

Worldwide Performance
Globally, the film has managed to cross the Rs 40 crore mark
thanks to steady contributions from overseas markets. As of the end of Day 7,
the total worldwide gross collection reached an estimated Rs 43.14
crore. International markets have contributed approximately Rs 10 crore
to this total so far.
Verdict: A Tough Road Ahead
Despite being one of the more expensive projects for
Dhanush, with a reported budget of Rs 100 crore, Kara is
currently heading toward a flop verdict. The film was released amidst
the 2026 Tamil Nadu elections, which industry experts suggest may have hampered
its marketing and initial reach.
While Dhanush’s performance and GV Prakash’s score have
received praise, critics have pointed to a predictable narrative and lack of
emotional depth as reasons for the lukewarm audience response. The film is
expected to wrap up its entire theatrical run with an Indian gross of
approximately Rs 40 crore, far below its recovery goals.
