'Bijuria' is Back! Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor's Party Song Divides the Internet!

'Bijuria' is Back! Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor's Party Song Divides the Internet!

Bollywood's love affair with recreating classic hits is a trend that continues to dominate the music scene, and the latest addition to this list is the iconic 1999 track "Bijuria." Featured in the upcoming film Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, the new rendition, featuring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, has stirred up a storm of reactions online. As the song drops, fans and critics are weighing in on whether this modernized party number lives up to the nostalgia of the original.

A Nostalgic Throwback with a Modern Twist

The original "Bijuria," sung by the legendary Sonu Nigam, was a chartbuster from his album Mausam. It became an anthem for a generation, known for its unique tune and Nigam's powerful vocals. The remake for Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari aims to bring that same energy to a new audience, with Tanishk Bagchi reimagining the music and Varun and Janhvi taking center stage.

The song’s teaser and subsequent release have sparked a mix of excitement and skepticism. Many netizens expressed their happiness at hearing Sonu Nigam's voice once again on a new track, highlighting that his enduring appeal is a major draw. A social media post featuring Varun Dhawan and Sonu Nigam grooving to the song's hookstep went viral, with fans praising the collaboration and giving a thumbs-up to the singer who, despite being over 50, "is still ruling hearts."

Netizens' Divided Opinions on the Remake

While the return of Sonu Nigam's voice is widely celebrated, the reception for the overall song and the lead pair's performance has been more varied.

  • Praise for Varun & Janhvi's Energy: Fans have lauded the on-screen chemistry and electrifying energy of Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor. Their dance moves, choreographed by Piyush Bhagat and Shazia Samji, have been called "fabulous" and "fire" by many. The duo's magnetic stage presence is seen as a strong point of the new track, making it a potential dance floor hit.
  • The "Original is Gold" Sentiment: However, a significant portion of the audience remains unconvinced. The classic "remake vs. original" debate is in full swing, with many expressing that the new version lacks the soul of the 1999 hit. Comments on social media platforms highlight a sense of disappointment, with some users stating that Bollywood's over-reliance on old hits shows a lack of creativity. "Why can't they make simple songs which are shot like a daily life sequence which can also be romantic?" one Reddit user questioned.
  • Janhvi Kapoor's Performance Under Scrutiny: Janhvi Kapoor's acting and on-screen presence have also come under criticism. Some netizens feel that her expressions and overall performance in the song are generic, with a few even suggesting that a "talent black hole is being shoved down our throats." This sentiment reflects a recurring complaint about a lack of originality in her roles and a desire to see her in more diverse characters.

The Verdict: A Mixed Bag

The "Bijuria" remake from Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is a textbook example of a Bollywood recreation. It successfully leverages nostalgia by retaining Sonu Nigam's voice, which is a major positive. At the same time, it updates the sound and visuals to cater to modern audiences, with Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor delivering a high-energy performance.

However, the song highlights a broader concern among audiences about the lack of original content in Bollywood music. While it might be a hit at parties and get a lot of online traction, its ability to leave a lasting impression like its predecessor remains to be seen. The success of the film's music will ultimately depend on whether it can win over the skeptical segment of the audience that craves genuine artistry over recycled nostalgia.

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, directed by Shashank Khaitan and starring Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf, is set to release on October 2, 2025.

Sonu Nigam becomes bald to reply Maulavi's challenge!

Singer Sonu Nigam literally took everybody by surprise after he pronounced on Twitter that he will be going bald this afternoon.

Well, this shocking pronouncement came after the Vice President of the West Bengal Minority United Council issued a fatwa against Sonu over his statement against the use of loudspeakers for azaan and forced religiousness. "If anyone can shave his hair, put a garland of old torn shoes around his neck and tour him around the country I personally announce an award of Rs 10 lakh for that person," told the Maulavi.

Replying to this Sonu today posted, "Today at 2 pm Aalim will come to my place, and shave my head. Keep your 10 lakhs ready Maulavi."

The news indeed came as a mild shock to numerous, but, keeping his words, Sonu literally shaved his head turning bald.

While speaking to the press outside his residence, Sonu told, "I want to say this once again, what Aalim bhai is doing is not some agitation. Don't feature it like that. Don't portray it like a challenge. This is not some challenge. This is to tell you that baal kaatne wala Musalmaan hai aur jiske baal katwane ka fatwa diya gaya hai woh Hindu hai. There is no animosity. I'm not cutting my hair against my will. I'm telling my Musalmaan bhai to cut my hair. If we interpret the talk of fatwa with love and if you'll understand what I have said then that is wonderful."

Further, he also spoke about people dancing and drinking in the name of religion and explained that this was not against any one religion.

This all began after Sonu voiced out his frustration on Twitter after the morning azaan disturbed his sleep forcing him to wake up. Since then, the singer has been receiving a lot of criticism from all the sides, but, he continued to maintain his stand.

Sachin Tendulkar’s new singing innings with Sonu Nigam!

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, who has had an excellent cricketing career, bid an adieu to the gentleman's game in November 2013 rendering us all saddened.

But, the God is back and this time as a singer. Tendulkar collaborated with first-rate singer Sonu Nigam for a song based on cricket. The track by the name 'Cricket Wali Beat' was premiered on the grand finale of a TV reality show.

The lyrics of the song is quite quirky and captured the true madness of the game. For instance, the lyrics tells,"Gend aayi, bala ghuma, mara chaka, Sachin, Sachin… nacho nacho sab cricket wali beat pe." Funny isn't it?

Lauding Sachin's singing skills, Sonu told, "I am glad to be part of Sachin's new innings. The song that he has sung with me is called 'Cricket Wali Beat'. I was very surprised to see the way he was pitching right. That's why I believe that when God blesses someone with genius, it spills in other faculties too."

He further added, "He is a very good singer. We did not use pitch corrector on his voice as he was singing in the right sur (tone) and (despite being) the shy person that he is, he got extremely comfortable the moment I kind of increased the masti (fun) quotient while we were shooting the video. It was wonderful and I am very happy that people are loving the song."

Sonu was all admirations for the legend as he called Sachin a phenomenon not just in India but for the world as well. "When he is given the title of god, it's not just by chance. His whole demeanor, whole career, entire reputation and the spotless career that he has had, is the reason why he is called the God of cricket," Sonu declared.
