of Bollywood," the veteran star’s demise marks the end of an

The film fraternity and the nation are united in grief, with
an overwhelming outpouring of condolences. The late actor's final rites, held
at the Pawan Hans Crematorium in Vile Parle, Mumbai, saw a massive gathering of
industry stalwarts, all arriving to pay their last respects to the man who
defined heroism on the silver screen.

Born Dharmendra Singh Deol, the actor debuted in 1960 and
quickly became a phenomenon, effortlessly transitioning from the romantic hero
in films like Phool Aur Patthar and Anupama to the quintessential
action star in blockbusters like Dharam Veer. His role as the lovable
rogue Veeru in the timeless classic Sholay remains one of the
most iconic performances in Indian cinema history.
His versatility earned him the Padma Bhushan, India’s
third-highest civilian award, in 2012.
Dharmendra's passing comes after a brief period of illness. He
was recently discharged from the hospital and was recuperating at his residence
before he finally succumbed. He is survived by his wives, Prakash Kaur and Hema
Malini, and his children, including actors Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, and Esha
Deol.
His last cinematic appearance was in the 2024 film Teri
Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, and he is set to be seen posthumously in the
upcoming war drama Ikkis.
