Following Ajay Devgn and Aamir Khan's reunion, Ishq director Indra Kumar made a suggestion for a sequel, saying he would start writing the screenplay as soon as the actors approved.
Ishq is among the 1990s' most enduring romantic comedies. Now, 27 years after its debut, filmmaker Indra Kumar said he was excited about the potential sequel and would be ready to begin writing the script as soon as Ajay Devgn and Aamir Khan asked him to.
During their recent reunion, Aamir Khan and Ajay Devgn
discussed how much fun they had filming the popular 1997 film Ishq. Naturally,
this sparked curiosity about a potential follow-up. In a media chat, director
Indra Kumar talked about how excited he was about the idea of making Ishq 2
with the original pair.
He disclosed, “Neki aur puch puch? The only thing is that to make a sequel that
matches up to the original is a big task. Aisi script bhi toh likhni chahiye
na.” (Doing a good deed and asking if you should? The only thing is that making
a sequel that matches up to the original is a big task. We’d need a script
worthy of it, right?)
The director went on to say, "But why not, if Ajay and Aamir urge me to begin working on it? Likho toh main kal se hi likhna shuru kar du if they tell me the script. We will be ready to proceed once they have confirmed and discussed the signing fee. (But why not, if Ajay and Aamir ask me to get started on it? I will begin writing the script tomorrow if they instruct me to do so. We will be ready once they have confirmed and discussed the signing amount.
When discussing potential sequels, Indra stated that he's
amenable to the idea of developing a follow-up to Beta. Madhuri Dixit, Aruna
Irani, and Anil Kapoor were among the iconic cast members of the 1992 original
film, which is now regarded as a beloved classic.
On November 9, 2024, Ajay Devgn and Aamir Khan reunited during the muhurat
ceremony for Milap Zaveri's upcoming film Tera Yaar Hoon Main in Mumbai. The
film is being produced by Indra Kumar, who directed the two stars in the 1997
smash Ishq.
Their reunion instantly created excitement because pictures
and videos from the event brought back memories of their classic film. The
Singham Again star said they had a great time making Ishq and proposed that
they collaborate on another project.
As Aamir enthusiastically agreed, fans who were thrilled about the possibility
of seeing the two work together again cheered.
While filming Ishq in 1997, the Laal Singh Chaddha star also shared a
fascinating story about a crazy encounter with a chimpanzee during a special
sequence. Behind the scenes, the animal suddenly attacked him, but Ajay rescued
him.
In a humorous way, Ajay claimed that the event began because Aamir had provoked the monkey by sprinkling him with water first. Despite these unanticipated events, both actors nostalgically reminisced about the fun and thrilling experience of working together on the film.
