Presently, filmmaker Imtiaz Ali is busy in his next Kartik
Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan starrer Aaj Kal. But, he has already started work on
his next film which is based on the story of Punjabi folk singer, late Amar
Singh Chamkila. Termed as the Elvis of Punjab, Amar Singh Chamkila was
recognised for his tracks that addressed extra-marital relationships, drug
abuse and the patriarchal mindset of the Punjabi men. Surrounded by
controversies, the singer shot to fame and was subjected to criticism at the
same time.
As per latest media report, Imtiaz Ali has acquired the
filming rights and permission from the singer's family to recreate his story on
the silver screen. While the movie is still in its scripting stage, the makers
are considering Ayushmann Khurrana and Kartik Aaryan for the role. Both the
actors seem to be at their peak and it is difficult to decide who can play the
role better.
Director Imtiaz Ali is believed to start working on the
project in full swing after the release of Kartik and Sara romantic flick Aaj
Kal on Valentine's Day 2020. Nothing else is disclosed about the film as of
now.
