Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt directed a movie Sadak starring
Sanjay Dutt, Pooja Bhatt, late Sadashiv Amrapurkar in 1991. The movie went on
to acclaim cult status.
Now, Sadak 2 is in the works and will see the reunion of
Sanjay and Pooja as they will be seen reenacting their characters.
As per a leading tabloid, joining Sanjay and Pooja will be
rumoured lovebirds Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt who will essay a young
couple in the film.
A source disclosed to a daily, "Earlier, there were conjectures
that Sidharth and Alia are doing Mohit Suri's next directorial project,
Aashiqui 3, but the movie has been put on hold. Instead, Vishesh Films has cast
them for Sadak 2. While the film's director is yet to be finalised, they want
to finish the casting process so that the film can go on floors soon."
We guess now, why we spotted Sidharth and Alia at Mahesh
Bhatt's office on numerous times!
Lately, Pooja spoke at length with a leading daily's weekly tabloid
about making Sadak 2 and disclosed, "The story will start from where we
left it. It is difficult to imagine Sadak without Maharani (played by the late
Sadashiv Amrapurkar), but it would be incomplete without Sanjay Dutt."
In the meantime, Mahesh had told to a daily, "Sanjay
who was 32 when we made the original, comes back as a 54-year-old Ravi into the
21st-century world that is collapsing in front of his eyes, where the
distinction between the house and the ‘sadak’ is fast disappearing. The story
has the emotional connect of the films I made back in the ’90s which brought a
lump to the throats of the viewer. I could see that in the reaction of those
present at the narration. They were visibly moved."
