Rajkummar Rao has mesmerized us all with his talent in
acting skills and the actor has taken up yet another challenge. This time -
it's about the changing the system of Indian Elections. Rajkummar will next be
seen in Newton and the film revolves around a government clerk who tries to
conduct fair voting on an election day amid the fear of guerrilla attacks and
apathy of security forces.
The teaser is out and well, by seeing the rushes of it, it
does seem promising. The trailer with Sanjay Misra educating a group of people
about how elections are conducted in our country. He gives out the details of
expenses, voters and other information to the audience and tells, "India
elections… Rs 30,000 crore expense, 84 crore voters, 90 lakhs voting booths.
Even today we are making new records and breaking the old ones in the Guinness
Book of World Records. Many goons might enter the Parliament but we won’t allow
them to interfere with elections."
And then you see Rajkummar and in the backdrop, you will
also notice Isaac Newton’s laws flashing on the board behind him and then he
says - "Newton ke laws padte hue samajh nai aaye, but kaam karte hue aa
rahe hai."
Newton was premiered at the 67th Berlin Film Festival and
was loved by the jury. “This exceptional film within the rich and varied Forum
selection deals with the various issues of democracy and fight for it during
the elections in India. Its modular portrayal of Indian culture, the dark
humour and ironic approach as well as positive use of typical cliches in Indian
society gives NEWTON a unique form and style which will delight audiences in
art house cinemas all over the world,” the jury earlier told a leading news
agency.
