Goa's Director General of Police recently made an
appeal to all admirers of Mohammed Rafi to boycott Karan Johar's "Ae Dil
Hai Mushkil" (ADHM) for insulting the late legendary singer in the movie.
DGP Muktesh Chander, who is also a flautist, on Tuesday posted,
"Md. Rafi was one of the greatest singers of India and needs no
certificate from anyone. If you are a Rafi fan, boycott this movie."
Rafi's son Shahid, has previously criticized the film's
director Karan for including a dialogue in the movie that he found insulting to
his star father.
In the film, actress Anushka Sharma tells, "Mohammed
Rafi gaate nahi, rote the (Mohammed Rafi used to cry, not
sing).
Chander also shared, "I am musically connected to Rafi
Saheb and play his songs on flute. Any utterance against a great singer hurts
his millions of fans like me."
Mohammed Rafi, who has delivered innumerable hit songs like
"Kya hua tera wada", "Baharon phool barsao",
"Likhe jo khat tujhe" and "Chura liya hai tumne jo dil ko",
died in 1980.
The late singer had worked with producer Karan's father Yash
Johar in the 1980 film "Dostana" for which he sang "Mere dost qissa yeh
kya ho gaya" and "Salamat rahe dostana".
