Now a new trend in Bollywood as actors are turning
producers. Anushka Sharma, whose first production NH10 was released
last year, is gearing up for her second outing as a producer with Phillauri.
Priyanka Chopra's home production Purple Pebble Productions has forayed into
regional cinema. Now, Sonakshi Sinha is set to be a producer.
Speaking about it to a close source, Sonakshi told,
"That is the next step, given my experience in the industry. I am waiting
for a story that appeals to me strongly." The Holiday actor
wants to produce films which have performance-oriented roles.
When asked about Akira, Sonakshi stated, "It's a positive
change that more heroine-driven projects are being attempted now. But the fact
that they are not making as much money as other films shows that, as a society,
we are lagging behind in accepting things. In the West, films are not defined
by gender. So, we must stop calling films women-centric. We don't call other
films male-centric, do we? The change will be more evident then."
