Singer Udit Narayan to recall late singer Lata Mangeshkar!

The Grand Finale of the popular singing reality show 'Sa Re Ga Ma' aired on Sunday. Neelanjana Ray emerged as the winner of the latest season of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. Singer Udit Narayan in the episode spoke about late legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar.

In the episode, Narayan was immensely impressed and had words of appreciation for every participant. But, it was contestant Rajashri Bag's beautiful rendition to Lata Mangeshkar's 'Tere Bina Jeeya Jaaye Na', 'Bhor Bhaye Panghat', 'Hothon Mein Aisi' and 'Meri Aawaz Hi' that reminded him of the legendary nightingale of India.

As a special request he asked the young singer to sing his favourite song 'Aawaz Do Humko' post her performance.

Remembering a few memories with Lata Mangeshkar, Narayan stated, "I feel blessed to have done more than 200 duets with her, along with a few stage shows. I remember in one of our concerts she requested the host to introduce me as the king of playback singing, and I can never forget that. I am sure I must have done something good to deserve that."

Remarking on Rajashri's performance, he told, "I watch this show at home, and I've seen people compare you (Rajashri) to Lata didi. At such a young age, your voice is a blessing. After hearing you sing live, I truly see an image of a singer within you. You are talented and this stage has surely honed your skills."

Lucky Ali’s heartfelt tribute to late singer Lata Mangeshkar!

Well-known singer Lata Mangeshkar left for her heavenly abode on February 6. She breathed her last at Breach Candy Hospital. Numerous VIPs including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and celebs paid tribute to her. She was laid with full state honours at Shivaji Park, Mumbai. Widely known as the 'Nightingale of India' was one of the most loved singers and had worked with numerous generations.

Recently, another well-known singer Lucky Ali also paid tribute to her and stated that the void she has left will never be filled. Lucky Ali wrote on Twitter, “The passing of our LataBai … has left an emotional and moral gap which will be hard to fill by anybody else..  she was a her own person and her work and life proved that. Whether it was singing for our nation or motivating the soldiers, or a long lost love or a deep loneliness.” Amitabh Bachchan had also written a blog for her and mentioned, “She has left us... The voice of a million centuries has left us .. her voice resounds now in the Heaven!”

Lata had recorded songs in over 36 Indian languages, including Hindi, Marathi, Bengali and foreign languages. She received several awards and honours throughout her career.

Legendary Lata Mangeshkar was admitted to Breach Candy hospital on January 8 and spent nearly a month in the ICU, after she was diagnosed with COVID-19 and pneumonia. Numerous famous celebs from different fraternities paid their last respect to the legendary singer at Mumbai's Shivaji Park. The painful news sent the whole nation into a state of grief. Ever since the news came out, fans have been mourning her loss.

Social media is filled with netizens expressing their grief over her loss. Many celebs like Amitabh Bachchan, Shraddha Kapoor, Sachin Tendulkar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and others had reached her residence to pay their last respects. Her funeral took place at Dadar’s Shivaji Park and finally, the legendary singer has been laid to rest with state honours.

Filmmaker Boney Kapoor also recall the legendary singer and posted a video from Pukar sets. “Blessed & Honoured to have Lata ji join us for a week in Hyderabad to capture her enacting the song for our film Pukar. All of us were in awe of her. The humble person that she was, she mixed with the unit in no time and won our hearts with the care and love that she gave us. Even though she was a frugal eater, she was a ‘foodie’ (as what today’s generation would describe her) and she made sure we all tried different dishes. She would regale both Sri and me with the most amusing anecdotes from her past which would leave us in splits. One of the most memorable week of my life which I shall always treasure,” he posted along with the clip.

Actor Ayushmann Khurrana posted a video of Lata Mangeshkar and offered condolences. He tweeted, “Lata di’s demise is a huge loss to the nation. I grew up listening to her songs because she was my dadi’s fav singer. So, her loss brings back a deluge of memories and nostalgia. Lata di was and will always be the pride of India. Her name will be etched with glowing letters in the history of Indian cinema. It is not just an end of an era. It’s the end of multiple eras.”

The former cricketer master blaster Sachin Tendulkar used to address her “aai”. The unfortunate news have left him heartbroken. Sachin Tendulkar took to his official Twitter handle and told that he feels a part of him is lost. “I consider myself fortunate to have been a part of Lata Didi’s life. She always showered me with her love and blessings. With her passing away, a part of me feels lost too,” he posted. Sachin further added, “She’ll always continue to live in our hearts through her music.” Sachin Tendulkar and his wife Anjali Tendulkar paid tribute to the legendary singer at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park.

Actress Bhumi Pednekar took to her Instagram handle. Sharing a picture of the legendary singer, Bhumi penned an emotional caption. She wrote, "A very sad day and a huge loss for all of us, her fans. Your contribution will live on forever ma’am. My condolences to the family and all her fans across the world. Om Shanti #LataMangeshkar"

Actor Ranveer Singh took to his Instagram handle and shared a throwback pic of the veteran singer. He captioned the picture with a broken heart emoji.

Shahid Kapoor took to his Twitter handle and tweeted, "An icon a legend .. words will always fall short. Thank you for your glorious voice Lata ji. It will resonate worldwide for generations to come. RIP."

Actor Anil Kapoor took to his Twitter handle and penned an emotional note. He wrote, "Heartbroken, but blessed to have known & loved this incredible soul...Lataji holds a place in our hearts that will never be taken by anyone else. That's how profoundly she has impacted our lives with her music. May she rest in peace & light up the heavens with her brightness"

Actor Arjun Rampal took to his Twitter handle and wrote "A legend an icon, how blessed and fortunate we have all been to have witnessed and heard our dear nightingale Lataji, you will always live in our hearts you touched. My heartfelt condolences to the Mangeshkar family. RIP Lataji. Om Shanti."

Dia Mirza shared a throwback picture and penned an emotional caption. The former beauty queen wrote, "Lata Mangeshkarji’s voice will always be India’s voice. Our glorious nightingale of India. Our Bharat Ratna. Rest In Glory. Om Shanti."

Hrithik Roshan’s gratitude towards Lata Mangeshkar’s praises for his work!

Lately, well-known singer Lata Mangeshkar had paid tribute to Hrithik Roshan’s grandfather Roshan Lal Nagrath. She also shared the song titled Rahein Na Rahein from the film Mamta that was composed by Roshan Ji. 

Hrithik was quite stunned over the same and had sent a thanks note to the singer on Twitter that reads, “Thank you from all our hearts as a family for this wonderful heartwarming message Lataji this is one of my favourite songs of Daduji’s too.” 

Now, Lata Ji has admired Hrithik’s work in one of her latest tweets again. The singer reveals that she loves his work and that she considers the Nagrath family as her own. Not only that but she also states that she writes about late Roshan Lal Nagrath every year. She goes on to call him a great musician. Hrithik Roshan has now expressed his gratitude towards the veteran singer through the medium of a tweet in which he states that she has increased his value by talking about the same.

 

I don't feel my age at all, reveals Lata Mangeshkar on 88th birthday!

Well-known Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar, who turned 88 on Thursday, reveals age doesn't dampen her spirit and that she has always lived with a hope for a better tomorrow.

"Bahuthogaya... Aapko kaisa lagta hai... Aap gaati kyun nahin hain... Aapke favourite naye singers kaunhai... Aap apni behen (Asha Bhosle) se kyun nahin milti... Arrey bhai, sab ho chuka hai. Let's talk about the fun times," she suggested as though she were 18 rather than 88.

With a girlish cackle, Mangeshkar revealed, "Should I tell you the truth? I don't feel my age at all. I still feel young. I've never been weighed down by my troubles. Everyone has her share of problems in life. Even when I was young and struggling, and I was happy hopping from studio to studio bumping into other strugglers like Kishoreda and Mukeshbhaiyya. Those were fun times even when I had to go hungry for the entire day. There was no money in my purse. But there was only hope in my heart. And the belief that no matter how tough the future looked there was always hope for a better tomorrow."

When asked about her birthday thoughts, she revealed, "I can't thank the listeners enough for bearing with me for 70 years. I didn't even how the time flew by. Waqt kaise nikal gaya pataa hi nahin chala (I don't know how time flew by). If I had a chance to live it all again I wouldn't change a thing. Not even that fall from the stool while singing with Uma Devi," she quipped.

Farhan Akhtar is an inspiration for Shraddha to sing in films!

Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor's Rock On 2 is ready to release this weekend and the actress is reasonably thrilled about it. And it is not just the movie's sequel that has excited her. The songs that she has sung in the movie make her glad.

Probe Shraddha who has been her inspiration as a singer and she is quick to reply, "My very own grand maushi, Lata Mangeshkar ji, has been a huge inspiration. And she's an even bigger inspiration for my mom. My mom (Shivangi Kapoor Kolhapure) has the voice of an angel which a lot of people don't know. She actually sounds like the younger version of Lata ji. But she devoted her life in bringing up my brother and me. She too has been my inspiration. Sometimes we just sing over a cup of tea."

She further reveals, "The reason I discovered that I want to sing is because of being an actor. Another reason was watching Rock On. I was always fond of singing but I didn't know that I could do it in movies. However, when I saw Farhan singing his own songs in Rock On, I thought that if he can do this, so can I."

No Mumbai Police action against Tanmay Bhat for his Snapchat video!

Comedian Tanmay Bhat, who had annoyed fans of Sachin Tendulkar and Lata Mangeshkar with his Snapchat video, can now finally heave a sigh of relief.

When the video had gone viral, Ameya Khopkar of the MNS had threatened to file a FIR (First Information Report) against Bhat. But, it now seems that the Mumbai Police is not really keen to take any action against the chubby comedian. An official from the Mumbai Police told that prima facie, there seems to be no case against Tanmay if MNS files a complaint. The official added that had Tendulkar or Mangeshkar filed a complaint against Bhat, they would have been forced to take action in this matter.

Tanmay Bhat’s video had drawn criticisms from many people, including Bollywood celebrities, who declared that his humour was in bad taste.

Ranveer Singh gets prestigious 'Pandit Dinanath Mangeshkar Award' on Skype first time in history!

Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar has agreed to confer the prestigious 'Pandit Dinanath Mangeshkar Award' to actor Ranveer Singh, who is busy shooting for his forthcoming movie Befikre in Paris, over Skype.

The Melodious voice Queen has always insisted that winners of the award be physically present at the event. While Ranveer will connect through Skype for the ceremony on April 24, his mentor Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who is also being honored, will receive the award on his behalf at the venue.

The award was instituted in 1999 in the memory of Dinanath Mangeshkar, father of Lata Mangeshkar. Since then it is awarded annually to artists for their outstanding contributions to music and flicks. The singer was quoted saying that Ranveer is one of the youngest recipients of the award and that he is a great actor who seems like a super positive human being.

Late Lance Naik Hanamanthappa, who spent six days buried alive under 25 feet of ice after a storm at Siachen, died yesterday, four days after he was rescued by the army. He died in a military hospital in Delhi.
