Ajay Devgn and Riteish Deshmukh Steal the Show: Our Raid 2 Review!

Raid 2, the follow-up to the popular 2018 movie Raid, stars Ajay Devgn as the uncorruptible IRS inspector Amay Patnaik. The film, which was directed by Raj Kumar Gupta and came out on May 1, 2025, follows Patnaik as he takes on another case of white-collar crime, this time against Dada Manohar Bhai, a well-known and influential politician who is portrayed by Riteish Deshmukh. Even while the sequel aims to expand on the original's idea, its predictable plot and erratic pacing only make it half-interesting.

The Storyline Takes a Known Route:

Raid 2 is set seven years after the events of Raid and centers on Amay Patnaik's 75th raid, this time in Bhoj, Rajasthan, where he targets Dada Manohar Bhai, who is thought to be untouchable. Even though Dada Bhai has a solid reputation and a lot of power, Patnaik believes he has illicit assets. Patnaik is suspended after the first raid fails to provide any results. After that, the movie chronicles Patnaik's unwavering attempts, despite obstacles, to find the truth and hold Dada Bhai accountable.

 

Performances: Shine by Riteish Deshmukh and Intensity by Ajay Devgn:

Once more, Ajay Devgn portrays the steadfast Amay Patnaik in a nuanced yet powerful performance. He does a good job of embodying the character's honesty and resolve. He doesn't get much new character development in the movie, either.

Riteish Deshmukh, who plays the antagonist Dada Manohar Bhai, gives the most impressive performance. His portrayal of a seemingly modest yet powerful and unscrupulous politician is intriguing, and he excels in a role that lets him explore a darker side.

Ileana D'Cruz plays Amay Patnaik's wife, Malini, but Vaani Kapoor takes her place. Although she and Ajay Devgn have a strong on-screen chemistry, her part doesn't significantly deepen the primary plot.

 

Technical Aspects and Direction:

The first film's genuine and gritty tone is something that director Raj Kumar Gupta tries to preserve. But in the first half, the screenplay seems strained and cliched. With more exciting aspects and an improved background score by Amit Trivedi, the second half gains up speed. Although Sudhir K. Chaudhary's cinematography is respectable, the editing could have been more precise to keep the movie moving at a steady tempo.

Raid 2 is a decent criminal thriller, mostly because to Ajay Devgn's performances and Riteish Deshmukh's standout performance. The first half's slowness and predictable plot are major flaws, but the second half's exciting features successfully hold the audience's attention. Although genre fans may find it entertaining, it falls short of its predecessor.

Salman Khan to act in a song for Riteish Deshmukh’s directorial debut Ved!

Presently, superstar Salman Khan has been busy shooting for Farhad Samji’s Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali with Pooja Hegde, Aayush Sharma and Shehnaaz Gill these days. As per media update, the superstar is set to team up with Riteish Deshmukh for the latter’s directorial debut Ved which is a Marathi movie. As per media news, Salman has been roped in to shoot for a special song in the movie and will work on it towarof this month.

A media source specified, that the song will be shot in Mumbai. “Riteish had been in talks with Salman for a while now and the song will finally be shot in Mumbai over June 25th and 26th. Salman is currently in Hyderabad shooting for 'Bhaijaan' featuring Pooja Hegde, Venkatesh, along with Shehnaaz Gill, Palak Tiwari and others,” a source was quoted as saying.

Recently, finally director Mohit Suri has made the cast of Ek Villain Returns official. The Ek Villain’s sequel stars John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani and Tara Sutaria in the lead roles. The original cast members are not a part of the sequel. However, recently on the pronouncement of the release date, the stars from the original 2014 film Shraddha Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh have shared their thoughts about the sequel on social media.

Sharing the poster on her Instagram story, Shraddha tagged Mohit and was all hearts for the new cast and poster. Riteish shared John's tweet about the movie on social media and wrote, "Go Villains!!!! Wishing my best to the entire team- मुझे यक़ीन है - इस बार भी शिकायत का मौक़ा नहीं मिलेगा।  (I trust that this time I won't be given a chance to complain.)" In the 2014 film, Shraddha was seen as Aisha who plays Sidharth's love interest in the film. On the other hand, Riteish played the antagonist in the first part of the film. Earlier during the day, Mohit along with the cast members, Arjun, Disha, John and Tara shared the poster of the film that featured an emoji with a sinister smile. The movie is being produced by Ekta Kapoor and Bhushan Kumar. It will be released on February 11, 2022.

Akshay was busy holidaying in the US with wife Twinkle Khanna and their kids, Aarav and Nitara, but, he had to fly back to Mumbai for a few commitments. Soon, he flew to London to begin shooting for his forthcoming comedy film Housefull 4 which also stars Riteish Deshmukh, Kriti Sanon among others. 

About the Housefull 4’s shooting in London, a source disclosed to a daily, "The entire Housefull 4 team is reaching London two days in advance to gear up for the shoot. After the Gold event, Akki will fly to the UK capital for a 25-day schedule of the film.”

Riteish Deshmukh repeats his Dhamaal role in Total Dhamaal!

The star cast of Total Dhamaal is getting bigger now. First, Ajay Devgn came on board after he replaced Sanjay Dutt who was a part of Dhamaal and Double Dhamaal. Then, the iconic pair of Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit were cast in the movie which made fans excited as they will be seeing them together after 17-18 years.

Now, as per reports in a tabloid, Riteish Deshmukh who has been a part of the Dhamaal franchise will also star in this movie. When the brilliant actor was questioned about the same, he specified, "Yes, I am doing the film."

While speaking about it, a source told to the tabloid, "Indra Kumar is extremely fond of Riteish and was keen to have the actor on board. Riteish has liked the script and has agreed to reprise his character Roy from the original."

The source further spoke about how the movie will be funnier than its former movies by telling, "The makers have upped the humour element this time. It won’t have any awkward, cringe-worthy dialogues."

Total Dhamaal is likely to go on floors by next month and might release next year.

Vivek's character gives an edge to Bank Chor, tells Riteish Deshmukh!

Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh tells it is actor Vivek Oberoi's character in "Bank Chor", which gives an edge to the upcoming movie.

"Vivek Oberoi plays a CBI officer in the film, which gives an edge to the film. There comes a time when you start asking whether this cop is trying to solve the investigation or complicate it. Is he really a hero or villain, that's the edge" told Riteish promoting his movie on the show "Chidiya Ghar".

Riteish and Vivek have worked in "Masti", "Grand Masti" and "Great Grand Masti", now the duo is again sharing screen space in "Bank Chor" and Riteish is all praise for his friend and co-star.

"Experience of working with Vivek in 'Bank Chor' has been different. He plays a cop and I'm thief in the film, so whatever tussle and tension that goes in cop-thief relationship, will be seen in Bank Chor but with a different twist" Riteish further added.

"Bank Chor" is produced by Asish Patil and will be distributed under the Yash Raj Films banner. 

Baba Sehgal's song ‘Bae, Baba aur Bank Chor’ in Riteish Deshmukh starrer Bank Chor!

After releasing an exclusive trailer followed by some peculiar posters, the makers of Bank Chor have now disclosed a new song from the film, titled Bae, Baba aur Bank Chor.

The song has been composed and written by Baba Sehgal himself. Fascinatingly, the song's hook line had been created by the rapper during the shoot for the movie. It was converted into a full-fledged song 24-hours later.

Riteish Deshmukh's unplugged version of Tashreef in Bank Chor!

Directed by Bumpy and produced by Ashish Patil, Bank Chor is a fun rib-tickling thriller. It features Riteish Deshmukh in the lead role and as we all know that he is good when it comes to exhibiting his comic streak. Yesterday, the filmmakers released their second song - Tashreef - well, it does mean 'bum'. Now, they have come up with an unplugged version of the song and trust me, you can't stop yourself from singing along with Riteish. 

Sung by Rochak Kohli, the song is assuredly unmissable and is something to watch out for. Essentially, the technique here is recording the cover versions of the song using the Cup Clap technique. It taps your cup on the table and then tap your hands and end with a clap. It's fun to listen to such version of a song if you are a music buff. 

The peculiar lyrics of the song makes it from fun to watch too. The background in the song is a cafe which makes it more relevant. It took 43 takes to shoot the Tashreef Cups version. In fact, to promote the song, Riteish did a Twitter roast, where he invited everyone to take his own tashreef, that soon went on to trend across India for reasons no one can understand.

In an interview with us, Riteish told, "One thing that Y-Films decided; it stood out from the other production houses that I have worked with. Technically what we do is, throw the promo out - see the reaction and then there's a teaser, promos, songs, dialogue promos towards the end and in between we do interviews. That is the basic format which most of the films follow. But when Y-Films decided to do this, they had some crazy ideas of doing some crazy stuff. You've only seen 15 percent of what's out. So they came up with the idea of parallel promotion. So what you do with the film is something...but with it, we parallelly promote the feel of the film, the feel of the characters - the craziness of what the film is. And I thought that was quite unique. That's the reason why we shot for about a week's time for the promotional stuff and we did what was needed to be done. We've really shot for some crazy stuff and it will soon be out. It was well prepared."

Riteish-Vivek starrer Bank Chor’s preview!

The promo of Bank Chor is out. It stars Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Anand Oberoi and Rhea Chakraborty in the leads.

In the promo, Riteish, who essays the role of Champak Chandrakant Chiplunkar, a simple Marathi manoos is seen robbing a bank dressed up as a Swami with his two assistants who disguise themselves as a donkey and an elephant. They are the biggest of coward people who hold the bank customers as hostages so that the police does not arrest them. The hostages include a high-strung housewife, a hyper chef, a possibly undercover cop and Baba Sehgal. 

Vivek is seen as a CBI officer Amjad Khan, who is a harsh and fierce cop. He makes their lives difficult as hell. On the other side, Rhea essays a fashion journalist turned crime reporter Gayatri Ganguly aka Gaga.

The promo will absolutely put you in splits. The film will be a roller-coaster ride and will make people laugh out loud

Directed by Bumpy of Luv Ka The End fame, Bank Chor is produced by Ashish Patil under Yash Raj Films' Youth Wing Y-Films. The music is given by Shri Sriram, Rochak Kohli, Kailash Kher and Shameer Tandon. The film is scheduled to release on June 12, 2017. The movie also stars Sahil Vaid, Bhuvan Arora and Vikram Thapa in key roles.

Alia, Preity and Riteish clicked at the airport today!

Alia came back to the city after her short break in London. She looked pretty as ever in a white top with blue knee bust jeans. She layered the look with powder blue trench. A pair of brown boots, sunglasses and red backpack completed her chic look.

Preity Zinta was seen sporting a cool casual look wearing a black tee with blue jeans, black sneakers and black sunglasses.

Coming to her flicks, Zinta is set to make her comeback with Bhaiyyaji Super hit alongside Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel.

Riteish-Vivek starrer Bank-Chor becomes a first 16D film to activate all senses for a viewer!

Film Bank-Chor produced under the Y-Films banner [the youth wing of Yash Raj Films (YRF)] is the first feature movie in the world to release in 16D. The poster of the film starring Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi and Rhea Chakraborty is finally out. 

The film revolves around three friends who try to rob a bank and probably pick the worst day to do the job. It is set to release worldwide on June 16, 2017. 

In the poster, the trio are seen disguised as a Baba, an elephant and a horse in order to pursue their robbery mission.

Well, coming to the film, the movie has been designed with the next level of technology and immersive experiences where 16D helps activate all senses for a viewer in terms of touch, sight, hearing, smell, taste and also thought, imagination & feeling. In fact, the exhibitors and multiplexes are seemingly planning to keep a medical staff on stand-by, as the experience could get too overwhelming for most viewers, who typically use just five senses. Scary, isn't it?

Talking about the film, Riteish Deshmukh told, “I’m thrilled to be a part of this first-ever technological innovation in the Indian Film Industry. 3D is so last season when you have 16D! I’m certain Bank-Chor will steal a lot of hearts but since you can’t take chances, I’m also keeping a 16-day fast and chanting Om Y-Films O Namah 16 times a day… am told it really works!”

Shahrukh Khan suggests Anushka’s name to Sajid-Riteish for Yaaron Ki Baraat!

It's been a month since Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma came back to the bay after finishing their Europe schedule of Imtiaz Ali's The Ring. Both have been busy with other work promises and now they are back together for something special.

The beautiful actors are set to be a part of Sajid Khan and Riteish Deshmukh's hit talk show, Yaaron Ki Baraat. The twosome completed the shoot yesterday and they assuredly had lots of fun with the hosts.

Speaking about it to a famous tabloid, the source disclosed, "They are both acting in Imtiaz Ali’s next, titled The Ring and it is their third film together after Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Jab Tak Hai Jaan. The two share a warm relationship since then. When the hosts Sajid Khan and Riteish Deshmukh were hunting for friends close to SRK who could come on the show with him, it was Shah Rukh who recommended Anushka’s name. His close friends Karan Johar and Farah Khan have already come on the show. Anushka has often spoken about how Shah Rukh helped her as an actress in her debut movie and she’s very fond of the actor."

Sajid even posted a picture posing with SRK-Anushka and Riteish. He captioned the picture, "Surprise!!! Thanks to our yaars @iamsrk @AnushkaSharma we had a rollicking shoot #yaaronkibaraat with @Riteishd and urs truly..."

Riteish Deshmukh and wife Genelia are by far the prettiest Bollywood couple, we have seen! Their photos on Instagram always draw your attention. Now, husband Riteish has shared a sweet message for wife and it's too cute for words.
