Veteran actress Ava Mukherjee, who essayed adorable roles of
a grandmother in films and acted in numerous commercials, passed away at the
age of 88. The actress breathed her last on January 15 in Mumbai.
As stated by a portal, the cause of Ava Mukherjee's death is
yet unknown.
Ava Mukherjee was a wonderful actress. She also did a lot of
Bengali movies. She made her debut in the movie world in the year 1966 with a
Bengali film Ram Dhakka.
She also acted in movies such as Darna Zaroori Hai,
Detective Naani, The Firm Land. Ava Mukherjee played the role of Shah Rukh
Khan's grandmother in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas (2002). The film also
stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit in the lead role. She played the
role of a caring and supporting grandmother to SRK's character Devdas
Mukherjee.
She has a daughter named Romilla Mukherjee. Romilla Mukherjee
is a director who made the film Detective Naani in which Ava Mukherjee played
the lead role.
