Biopic on me to inspire girls to take up sports as a career, reveals Mithali Raj!

Biopics on the iconic Indian sports personalities become a fascinating theme for the Indian filmmaker. The COO of Viacom18 Motion Pictures disclosed that he will be making a film on the captain of the Indian Women's cricket team, Mithali Raj.

He verified the news to a daily revealing, "Viacom18 Motion Pictures has always been the pioneer in showcasing content with the portrayal of strong women characters right from Queen to Kahaani and Mary Kom. We are proud to be collaborating with the young and inspirational Mithali Dorai Raj, a name that's single-handedly responsible for bringing about a shift in the way the women's cricket team was perceived in our country."

When Mithali Raj was questioned about the same, she told, "I am extremely happy with this association with Viacom18 Motion Pictures. I'm hoping that this movie inspires more people especially young girls to take up sports as a career."

Further biopics being made in Hindi Film Industry are Akshay Kumar's Gold, where he will be seen essaying the role of hockey player Balbir Singh, who was a part of the team that won the first Olympic medal for India as a free nation in 1948.


Then we have Ranveer Singh's 1983 World Cup helmed by Kabir Khan, where the actor will play Kapil Dev. Shraddha Kapoor will be seen as badminton star Saina Nehwal in the movie Saina. Whereas Harshvardhan Kapoor will depict the role of Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra in the biopic Abhinav.
