The fire that gutted the iconic Stage 1 of the well-known Rk
Studio in Chembur has left numerous in shock particularly the Kapoor family who
had fond memories associated with it.
An emotive Rishi Kapoor poured his heart out while talking
to a famous tabloid spoke about the emotional loss the family has been going
through ever since the terrible incident.
RK Studio was legendary showman Raj Kapoor's dream project,
where numerous hits like Awaara, Shree 420, Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai, Mera
Naam Joker, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Ram Teri Ganga Maili, Dharam Karam were
shot.
While speaking to a famous daily, Rishi Kapoor revealed that
he is in partial denial even now and that he spent a lot of hours looking
around the studio and when the embers feel he felt helpless. He continued by
saying that this all felt like a bad dream to him.
The actor couldn't help but remember his own journey linked
with the studio. He remembered how his journey with the studio started when he
was two where he shot with his elder siblings- Randhir Kapoor and Ritu, for the
song Pyaar Hua Iqraar Hua from Shree 420. He further added that no one can
imagine the amount of pain he felt when he saw the fire destroy everything
around him.
Recounting the loss that the family had suffered, the
veteran actor told that costumes from every RK movie, from Awaara to Chalen
which were kept neatly in trunks is lost. Costumes worn by RK heroines from
Nargis to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are lost. All the spears, sabres, artefacts,
furniture and other regalia used for the various shoots. The Mera Naam Joker
mask and clothes... Dabboo and he couldn't believe what hit them.
“Today I feel a sense of deep bereavement because we lost
all of this.“ Echoing Randhir Kapoor's statement that the family may come to
terms with the financial loss but not with the emotional loss. My father didn't
buy a home for his family until Bobby's success. He put all his earnings into
the studio because cinema was his religion," revealed Rishi.
He added later, “My brothers and I can build the four walls
again and even add a roof. But how can we compensate the loss of the precious
memorabilia? That will never come back. Countless films, besides those made
under our home banner, have been shot at RK Studio.It has also been the venue
for our Holi and Ganpati celebrations. The loss is not just ours as a family,
it is a loss for the entire film fraternity."
