After getting us hooked to Mainu Ishq Da Lagya Rog, a
remake from Mahesh Bhatt’s Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahi (1991), sisters
Tulsi and Khushali Kumar are back with another single and it for sure will get
you grooving.
Titled Mera Highway Star, the song also features rapper
Raftaar in his forever quirky avatar. The trio-Tulsi, Khushali, Raftaar-dropped
the teaser on April 7 and have released the full video today.
Composed by Sanjay Rajee, the video shows Raftaar who
on being chased by the police, enters a garage that is owned by Tulsi and
Khushali and then starts what appears to be a tussle.
Talking about the song Khushali was heard saying that the
track is meant to stand out as a powerful number, encouraging women to
experiment with roles that are treated as “social taboo.”
She told a famous news portal, “Mera Highway Star stands for
all the girls who want to do something which is labelled as a boy’s
thing or often considered a social taboo. Tulsi and I wanted to do a powerful
number raising the voice in a fun and stylish way. The voice which tells all
the girls that they can be a race car mechanic, ride alone on a cruiser, bike
to the mountains, be an explorer, be a rockstar, but be what you want to be,
Because, you have something unique in you."
