Creating hullabaloos on social media pages have become a common
thing now. Few celebs take it to their Facebook and Twitter to express their
opinions on anything wrong they witness around their surroundings.
Like first, Abhay Deol talked about celebs endorsing
fairness creams on his Facebook page. This soon became a topic of discussion,
while numerous supported or snapped at him, others kept mum on the issue.
Then came Sonu Nigam's Azaan controversy which turned out to
be a very horrible one. Due to his one tweet, Sonu ended up going bald for it.
And the latest one being, singers expressing their unhappiness over actors like Sonakshi
Sinha singing at live shows.
Lately, Priyanka Chopra, who is in the country for a
short period of time promoted her Hollywood debut movie Baywatch. During the
media interaction, the global icon was questioned about all these controversies
making the rounds on social media.
To which she told, "Don't mind if I say the truth, I
have a habit of saying the truth. You people give a lot of importance to it. My
every tweet becomes an article. I have 17 million or something followers on
Twitter, the read it, right? Why is it necessary to make an article out of
it?"
She further added, "If you all are giving it so much
importance, it becomes such a big controversy, it's really not. Any of these
things I am saying. We live in a democracy, everyone has a right to an opinion
and that is the kind of lesson we need to teach our children. My parents taught
me that we live in a democracy, do not be afraid to have a voice, do not be
afraid to speak the truth and be fearless about having an opinion."
Priyanka finished by telling, "Girls are usually said
that "Aap ko bolna nahi chahiye." But my father taught me differently
and that's what I want to teach the next generation of kids. We should not
judge people like this. Every person has an opinion, they are not right or
wrong, it's all about perception and we should respect that."
