Prateik Babbar to lead in Babri demolition and Godhra riots-inspired Bengali film!

Late actress Smita Patil’s son Prateik Babbar, who made his Bollywood debut with Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Na, is all set to make his debut in a Bengali movie with Saurav Chakraborty’s Bengali socio-political drama, Aroni Takhon.

The movie, which is based on a 1994 novel ‘Kamor’ by Sarbani Mukhopadhyay, revolves around a love story between the time the Babri Masjid was demolished (1992) and Gujarat riots (2002). The movie will have Prateik playing the role of a rich brat and a drug addict, who reforms for the love of his life who he eventually sacrifices to another man.

The movie, which stars Paoli Dam opposite Prateik and also has Indraneil Sengupta and Soumitra Chatterjee in pivotal roles, will hit the theatres globally on April 14 and in India on June 2.
