Indian film "Ishti", a film focusing on shames of
Indian society and "Sahaj Paather Gappo" (Colours of
Innocence) is a movie that reveals the struggles of a situationally challenged
family. Both will compete in the International Competition section of the 47th
International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
The names of these two Indian movies were pronounced by the
Directorate of Film Festivals on Friday, read a statement.
The 13 other movies were pronounced at a press conference on
November 1 here. The International Competition section has 15 films from across
the globe, including these two films from the Indian Panorama section.
"Ishti" is a Sanskrit movie, set in the
mid-twentieth century Kerala, where young Namboothiri Brahmins magnificently
challenge the orthodox, patriarchal traditions of their community.
"Sahaj Paather Gappo" (Colours of
Innocence) is a movie directed by Manas Mukul Pal, which reflects the struggles
of a family going through tough times, the early maturity of children and the
sacrifice of their wills, by focusing on a story of two brothers.
These movies will be judged by a jury and awards will be
presented to the Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor-Male, Best Actor-Female
and a Special Jury Award.
The other movies competing under this section are
"According to Her", "Daughter", "House of
Others", "I, Olga Hepnarova", "Mellow Mud",
"Nelly", "Personal Affairs", "Rauf",
"Scarred Hearts", "The Last Family", "The Long Night
of Francisco Sanctis", "The Throne" and "The Student".
The festival will start from November 20-28 in Goa.
