Bollywood megastar Salman Khan, who was acquitted by the
Rajasthan High Court in the poaching case on the grounds that the prosecution
failed to prove charges and the proof was too thin for conviction, might have
some new trouble for Salman.
As per information, the Rajasthan government is planning to
move the Supreme Court against the acquittal and that a special leave petition
will be filed at the Supreme Court after the Diwali holidays. Salman had filed
an appeal before the High Court challenging the lower court's verdict that had
handed him one and five years' imprisonment, respectively, in the two separate
cases of poaching. Besides Salman Khan, actors Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre,
Tabu and Neelam were also charged in the poaching case. In 2007, Salman was
sentenced to five years in prison by the Rajasthan High Court for hunting a
blackbuck during the shooting of Hum Saath Saath Hain. He spent six days in
Jodhpur Central Jail before his sentence was suspended. Later, the High Court
dropped charges under Arms Act against him on his appeal. In December 2012, the
High Court had revised the charges against the actor and Salman was charged
under the Wildlife Protection Act.
On the film front, Salman will be next seen in Kabir Khan's
Tubelight, which is set against the backdrop of the Indo-China war.
