Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies is the debut film for Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, Agastya Nanda!

As per media updates, Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor and Agastya Nanda will be making their debut with Zoya Akhtar’s forthcoming directorial The Archies which is based on the popular comic series. Now, The Archies has finally hit the floors. The news was shared by producer Reema Kagti on social media.

Taking to her Instagram handle, Reema posted a photo of a clapboard giving details of the first shot of The Archies. For the information, the film will be jointly produced by Reema and Zoya. Reema captioned the post as, “#Archie’s #shootstarts #TigerBaby’s first solo production #partnerincrime @zoieakhtar @Netflix”. Soon, Farhan Akhtar re-shared the post on his Instagram story and sent best wishes to the team. In the meantime, there has been a buzz that Agastya will be seen essaying the role of Archie Andrews in the film while Khushi and Suhana will be seen as Betty and Veronica respectively.

Earlier, Zoya announced the project in November last year. However, she is yet to make an official announcement about the cast of the movie. The media reports also informed that the film will be shot in Ooty and the surrounding hill stations.

Zoya Akhtar to mourn ill-fated demise of 'Gully Boy' rapper MC Tod Fod!

The Gully Boy rapper MC Tod Fod aka Dharmesh Parmar passed away at the age of 24. He was one of the soundtrack artists on Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s 2019 movie Gully Boy. The cause of his death is still not known. Dharmesh was connected with the Mumbai-based hip-hop collective called 'Swadesi'. As soon as the news of his demise surfaced, Zoya Akhtar took to her social media handle and mourned the gifted rapper’s unfortunate demise.

The director of Gully Boy, Zoya posted his pic on social media handle and wrote, “You have gone way too soon. I can only be grateful our paths crossed. Rest in peace Bantai #mctodfod @todfod”

His co-star Siddhant Chaturvedi also posted a picture of the late rapper along with a screenshot of his conversation and wrote, "RIP bhai," along with a broken-heart emoticon. Even Ranveer Singh had mourned his death.

Celebs’s concert for COVID 19!

Amid the Coronavirus pandemic, filmmakers like Karan Johar and Zoya Akhtar bring together celebs such as Shahrukh Khan, Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma, Alia Bhatt and a few others for a fundraiser to raise funds for COVID 19 and pay tribute to the hard work of the front line workers. Both raise funds for Give India Foundation and support those who are displaced by the novel Coronavirus.

As per media conjectures, Bollywood celebs like Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Arjun Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, and Anushka Sharma, among others will come together to perform and help Karan and Zoya raise funds and pay tribute to the frontline workers. Karan and Zoya have been coordinating with the actors for a week and the actors have been asked to share individual acts not more than four minutes. Since all of us are home and in quarantine, actors will be recording their acts from their respective homes and sending across their acts to Zoya and Karan, who in turn, will put together everything for the fund raiser.

As per media news, the fund raiser concert will be close to two hours, and the variety show will feature singing, dancing, speeches and other stand up acts.

In addition, comedian Kapil Sharma, too, will be part of the fund raiser. Other celebs like Arijit Singh, Vishal Dadlani, Shekhar, Pritam, Sonu Nigam, Shankar Ehsan Loy and other composers will be performing on their hit songs and Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, and Asha Bhosle will join and give motivation speeches urging people to stay united amidst the crisis. Not just this, Karan and Zoya have managed to bring Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar and other big names who will give interact with their admirers during the concert.

Speaking about the concert, it will be aired on Facebook to raise funds across the globe through the Facebook Donate button. Also, Will Smith, and Jonas Brothers, Bryan Adams, too, have been roped in and they will be putting up a special act.

While Dibakar Banerjee, Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap are still finalizing the scripts and cast for their spine-chilling tales, Zoya Akhtar has locked Jahnvi Kapoor for hers. It seems it didn’t even take much convincing from Zoya since Jahnvi loved the plot and the idea that the whole film will be shot in ten days! Both Zoya are Jahnvi are great at their jobs, so I can’t wait to see what they create together.

Zoya Akhtar and Ranveer Singh to unite for a gangster!

Zoya Akhtar and Ranveer Singh have combined forces for two films, and now they’re on the verge of announcing a third.

It seems the Dil Dhadakne Do and Gully Boy duo are teaming up for a gangster movie. Zoya has been a long-time fan of the genre, and she’ll attempt to make a larger-than-life epic a la Martin Scorsese’s Gangs of New York. Insiders say the film will feature two male leads going head-to-head, and Zoya’s still figuring out who to cast. Well, it definitely has to be someone as mad talented as Ranveer!

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has wrapped up the shoot of his next movie, Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy. Ranveer had posted a photograph on his social media account with the cast and crew and had captioned it, “FAM #itsawrap#gullyboy.”

This is Ranveer’s second association with Zoya Akhtar after Dil Dhadakne Do. Ranveer took to his social media account to thank Zoya Akhtar after the movie’s wrap. He wrote, “Bae & I made for each other I love you @zoieakhtar thank you for this unique and unforgettable experience #gullyboy”

Alia Bhatt to give her arm and leg for working with Meghna, Zoya and Gauri again!

Vivacious actress Alia Bhatt is one of the most wonderful actresses that we have at present. Her acts in movies like Udta Punjab, Highway and Dear Zindagi have only proven her ability to pull off difficult roles with relative ease.

She is all set to captivate us with an exciting line-up of content-driven movies this year which includes Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy and Meghna Gulzar's Raazi.

Alia Bhatt will be essaying a spy for the first time in Raazi. The film is based on the best-selling novel Calling Sehmat written by Harinder Sikka. The film also stars Vicky Kaushal and is scheduled to release on May 11, 2018.

I turned to acting only because of my sister Zoya Akhtar, reveals Farhan Akhtar!

Multifaceted Farhan Akhtar has proved his acting ability since the time he made his debut with Rock On!! in the year 2008. Since then, he has mesmerized us with his acts in movies namely Luck By Chance, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag to name a few.

During a communication with a famous tabloid, Farhan made a revelation that it was his sister Zoya Akhtar who pushed him to become an actor. He specified, "I would credit her for having recognised the acting potential in me and making me an actor. I turned to acting only because of Zoya."

He further told, "My mom and dad (Honey Irani and Javed Akhtar) always felt yeh kuch nahi karne wala hai. But Zoya, whenever she saw me with my friends, joking and laughing and keeping them engaged, thought I had something in me. It’s her belief and confidence in me that got me focused, and allowed me to start something with her."

Furthermore, before his acting debut, Farhan made an entry to Bollywood in style as a director with Dil Chahta Hai in the year 2001. Thereafter, he has made amazing movies like Lakshya (2004), Don (2006) and Don 2 (2011).

People have been waiting for him to make the third instalment of the Don franchise and Farhan is also waiting for the right time and script. He shared an anecdote during the release of Don by telling, "I remember when I went to watch the movie with the public, just after the interval they started asking me when I would direct the next Don, and I just said arre baba, second half toh dekh lo! (At least watch the second half!) Every time the topic of directing the next Don comes up, I can only say, dekhte hain (we’ll see)."

Hrithik Roshan reveals release plan of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’s sequel!

Zoya Akhtar’s directorial film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara had become a much-loved movie instantly in 2011. Defining friendship goals, bromance and reflecting the new ideology on how to live life to the fullest - ZNMD was a whole package. 

The main starcast comprised of Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, Farhan Akhtar, Kalki Koechlin and Abhay Deol. It's been five years since the movie has released and like many enthusiastic fans, we too are waiting are for the film's sequel! 

Every now and then, the starcast of the movie has expressed their desire to have a second part to the film and looks like, Hrithik knows when ZNMD 2 will be out!

In a communication with a famous tabloid, Hrithik revealed, "I am aware of that, but not many filmmakers can make such movies. So, I have to call Zoya once more and say, ‘Please write something, and if you think I am good enough, please cast me in your film’. I guess I will have to beg her. But I think it (the sequel) will happen maybe three to four years from now," told Hrithik.

Zoya Akhtar fell in love with Ranveer in first meeting at friend’s house!

As if the promo of Vogue BFFs’ finale featuring Ranveer Singh and buddy Zoya Akhtar wasn’t mesmerizing enough, here comes another interesting surprise by Zoya speaking about her first meeting with the 31-year-old actor.

Zoya had met Ranveer at a friend’s party 15-years back and suddenly fell in love with him as the filmmaker jokes.

Recalling about the first meet she told, “The first time I saw him, he walked into a party at a friend’s house and he was in a checked pair of pants, a checked shirt and a checked cap and checked sneakers. And I didn’t know who he was and I was like, ‘What are you wearing? Are you really wearing this?’ and he lifted his shirt and there was sliver of his boxer shorts, that were checked and he said, ‘Check me out, babe.’ And it was love at first sight!”

No Saif-Amrita daughter Sara’s debut with Ranveer in Zoya's next Gully Boy!

The reports of Saif Ali Khan-Amrita Singh's daughter Sara making her debut in Bollywood has been doing the rounds for the longest time now. In the last few days, the rumour mills were abuzz with the rumors of Sara making her big debut opposite Ranveer Singh in director Zoya Akhtar's next, Gully Boy.

It was being informed that Farhan (Akhtar) and Ritesh (Sidhwani), along with Zoya, have been in discussions with Sara for a while & Gully Boy could well be her launching pad in the Hindi movies. 

But, Amrita criticized all such reports, as reported by a famos tabloid!

“This is just not true,” rejected Amrita fervently. A source close to Zoya’s future film with Ranveer added, “There is nothing final about Zoya’s next. To speculate that Sara is a part of the film is very mischievous at this juncture. Sara’s dad Saif is very close to Zoya’s brother Farhan. If Sara wants to be in a film produced by Excel Entertainment (Farhan’s company) all Saif or Amrita have to do is ask.”

As per earlier reports, Ranveer Singh would be playing a rapper in Zoya Akhtar's musical Gully Boy. Now, according to a famous magazine, Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh's daughter Sara Ali Khan could also be making her debut in the musical.

A source close to the film unit told to the magazine, "Both the producers, Farhan (Akhtar) and Ritesh (Sidhwani), along with Zoya, have been in talks with Sara for a while now and they are almost in the final stages of discussion. Gully Boys could well be her launching pad."

Zoya Akhtar disproves signing Ranveer Singh for 'Gully Boy'!

After the release of her family drama Dil Dhadakne Do, rumors were widespread about filmmaker Zoya Akhtar's next. There was a strong news that actor Ranveer Singh would star in the movie, which is tentatively titled Gully Boy, but Zoya lately told that the actor has not been signed.

The Luck By Chance director told that they are still finalizing the script of the movie, which is about an underdog who rises from the slums of Mumbai to become a successful rapper. She added that no actor has been signed for the project yet, which is expected to roll by next year.

There were speculations that the lead role was previously offered to Hrithik Roshan, but he declined to take it up following which the Bajirao Mastani star was approached. In the meantime, Ranveer is presently shooting for Aditya Chopra's Befikre, which also stars Vaani Kapoor. The film is slated to release on December 9.

Ranveer Singh and Zoya Akhtar team up again for Gully Boy!

Ranveer Singh and director Zoya Akhtar had teamed up firstly in Dil Dhadakne Do, a film revolving around a dysfunctional family on a cruise and now, the two are seemingly coming together for a project, which revolves around rapping.

Ranveer has been signed up to play a rapper in Zoya's next Gully Boy, in which the actor will play an underdog from the slums of Mumbai, who becomes a rapper to address issues like oppression of Dalits, economic inequality, homosexuality and life on the streets of the city. The character has been inspired by real-life rappers like Divine and Naezy, who have been rapping about related issues and topics in the city.

Ranveer is presently shooting for YRF film Befikre.
