Gully Boy wins big at Filmfare 2020!

Recently, The Filmfare Awards 2020 was held on 15th February 2020 at Guwahati in Assam. The award ceremony was broadcasted on the Colors channel on 16th February 2020 at 9 pm. This was the first time that Filmfare Awards took place outside Mumbai.

Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Gully Boy definitely came out with flying colours with not just the cast winning big, but also a number of numerous awards in the technical category. The movie won in a total of 13 awards. Besides Gully Boy, Article 15 and Uri: The Surgical Strike also found a place on the list.

Netizens have started trolling the award show especially Gully Boy. They felt that Teri Mitti from Kesari deserved to win the Best Lyrics award than Apna Time Aayega from Gully Boy. Netizens have also started trending #BoycottFilmfare on Twitter and are questioning the results of Filmfare Awards 2020. Fans believe that Hrithik Roshan's performance in Super 30 was far better than Ranveer in Gully Boy.

For the information, Gully Boy won an award in the category of Best Actor Male and Female, Best Director, Best Film, Best Music Album, Best Lyrics, Best Role in Supporting Role Male and Female, Best Screenplay, Best Dialogue and others.

Ranveer Singh gets a ‘Silly Boy’ tag by Mumbai Police!

After Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s ads together, audiences have been wanting to see the two stars together on the big screen. The two have teamed up for Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy.

Recently, the makers dropped the trailer and admirers were all praises for the two actors and concept of the movie. The trailer gave us some mind-blowing dialogues like ‘Tu Kaun hai? Aukaat kya hai tera?’ and ‘Mere boyfriend se guru gulu karegi toh dhoptungi nausko’, ‘Apna time aayega’.

Quickly after the trailer was out on the internet, there were memes everywhere, but the best one was by the Mumbai Police. Their tweet read as, “When he argues to ride a motorcycle without wearing helmet #SillyBoy.” They gave the tag of silly tag and we can’t stop laughing.

The movie also features Kalki Koechlin and she is seen playing the role of a carefree girl. The movie also stars Ali Asgar, Parmeet Sethi and Pooja Gaur in the lead roles.

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt will be collaborating for the first time in Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy which is based on the lives of street rappers. The twosome will soon begin shooting for the movie this month as the prep work for the same began last year itself.

Speaking about the movie and working with Zoya again after Dil Dhadakne Do, Ranveer told to a tabloid, "In January itself, I start Gully Boy for which I collaborate with Zoya, who is very dear and special in my life as a collaborator, person as well as a director."

The actor was also all admirations for his co-star Alia and added, "Also, it’s my first collaboration on a full-length feature film with Alia [Bhatt], who I rate very high as an actor. She is certainly among the best actors in today’s day-and-age. I believe she is on her way towards greatness."

Also, Gully Boy, Ranveer has Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati, Rohit Shetty's Simmbaand Kabir Khan's '83 which is a biopic based on cricketer Kapil Dev. When questioned if he feels a bit of pressure due to the exceeding expectations from his flicks, Ranveer disclosed, "I would not term it as ‘pressure’ as it has a negative connotation. I look at it as responsibility. And my first responsibility is towards people whose lives are directly connected with mine — my family, friends, team and fans, who contribute to my life in a direct way. I am answerable to them as well."

Alia Bhatt to read scripts for Gully Boy and Brahmastra!

Bollywood’s chirpy actress Alia Bhatt has started preparation for her two forthcoming movies - Gully Boy and Brahmastra. Alia shared a beautiful picture on Instagram today in which she is reading the script of one of the flicks. 

Bhatt captioned the pic, 'The party is where the script is. Gully boy and Brahmastra prep time #bestkindatime'.

Film Gully Boy is directed by Zoya Akhtar. Alia will work opposite Ranveer Singh in the film.

On the other side, Brahmastra stars Amitabh Bachchan and Ranbir Kapoor and it is directed by Ayan Mukherji. The film is a trilogy of a fantasy adventure series.

Karan Johar, Alia's mentor remarked on her picture that he is eager to see Alia working with Zoya and Ayan.

Ranveer Singh’s recording for the Gully Boy in rapper style!

Ranveer Singh is a passionate fan of rap music and he has tried his hand at rapping too. Ranveer enthralled everybody when he turned rapper for the title track of Ladies vs Ricky Bahl. Furthermore, he even performed at several award functions and we can't wait to see him play the role of a rapper in Gully Boy.

As per a famous daily, Singh has already recorded tracks for the Zoya Akhtar directorial. He was often spotted at several recording studios in the city. Gully Boy is a biopic inspired by the lives of two rappers Vivian Fernandes aka Divine and Naved Shaikh aka Naezy.

When Vivian was asked about it, he specified, "In 2016, I was performing at a (now defunct) club in Lower Parel. Zoya was in the audience and after the show, we spoke about Mumbai's burgeoning hip-hop culture. She had heard my work online and took my number. She then visited my house and told me that she wanted to make a film on Mumbai's street rappers. Our conversation mainly revolved around my inspirations and ambitions."

He even disclosed that Zoya and the co-writer of the movie Reema Kagti visited their gully in the city, where they shot their hit song Mere Gully Mein. Little did they know, soon Ranveer will play the leading man in the movie based on them.

Speaking about Ranveer, Divine told, "He's a cool guy and already dresses like a rapper so he needs no tips in the fashion department from me. It is one thing to get audiences to wake up and listen to our kind of music, which is not about girls, gold and drugs but about real life in Mumbai. But it is an even greater thing when mainstream actors like Ranveer chose to be a Gully Boy. He's now a part of our movement."

When questioned if he will be acting and rapping with Ranveer, Divine further added, "I would love to because I know that Zoya is keeping it as real as possible. But Ranveer has already been rapping and recording for the film. He knows my songs, Jungli Sher, Farak and Mere Gully Mein by heart and keeps singing them. Recently, he recorded a track with a band of rappers too. I've heard him rap and he is good at it. I am sure he'll be great in the film."

Gully Boy also stars Alia Bhatt opposite Ranveer and is set to go on floors in the month of November.

I have no doubts that Ranveer can effortlessly play a rapper in Gully Boy, says Rapper Naezy!

Famous Rapper Naezy from Dharavi stole the thunder when his story was out in the form of a documentary for the entire world to see his struggle. Zoya Akhtar's next Gully Boy which stars Ranveer Singh is based on his story. Talking to a leading tabloid, Naezy narrated how he got to meet Zoya. 

He told, "I have been working on this project for the past 18 months. Zoya first heard of me while she was editing Dil Dhadakne Do (2015) and saw the video of my song, Aafat. She was surprised that Mumbai slums have so much talent. Our first meeting was at Blue Frog in Lower Parel (shut since last August) where we were performing for MTV Indies (off air since last September). A common friend, Ankur Tiwari, arranged a few more meetings."

He further added, "Zoya also met the documentary's director to discuss the basic plot. She and I had heart-to-heart chats on my journey; she wanted to crack the ambience of my slum. I was shocked when Zoya came visiting, because she makes movies about rich people (Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Dil Dhakadne Do). She also met my friends to understand my background."

"The dialogues are in Hindi and English, but once we are on board, we will help turn it the way we speak. She also intends to retain some of my original tracks in the film. Ankur will supervise the music," Naezy said further. 

Naezy also revealed that he likes Ranveer. He told, "I like the guy. We worked together for a song in Hey Bro (2015). He is a versatile actor and I have no doubts that he can effortlessly play an emperor in Padmavati and a rapper in this film."

Expressing his concerns, he shared, "I didn't want the film to become a dramatic mess. I shared my worries with Zoya and she explained that there is bound to be some fiction in the narrative. (But) I am certain this film will change the way hip-hop is perceived in India. Here, it has a negative image because of mainstream artistes. Originally, it isn't about passing lewd comments at women. My focus is on bringing about a change in society and mindsets."

"I have my own battles to fight - convincing parents to pursue this art. But, I know I have found my calling," Naezy shared and signed off.

No Saif-Amrita daughter Sara’s debut with Ranveer in Zoya's next Gully Boy!

The reports of Saif Ali Khan-Amrita Singh's daughter Sara making her debut in Bollywood has been doing the rounds for the longest time now. In the last few days, the rumour mills were abuzz with the rumors of Sara making her big debut opposite Ranveer Singh in director Zoya Akhtar's next, Gully Boy.

It was being informed that Farhan (Akhtar) and Ritesh (Sidhwani), along with Zoya, have been in discussions with Sara for a while & Gully Boy could well be her launching pad in the Hindi movies. 

But, Amrita criticized all such reports, as reported by a famos tabloid!

“This is just not true,” rejected Amrita fervently. A source close to Zoya’s future film with Ranveer added, “There is nothing final about Zoya’s next. To speculate that Sara is a part of the film is very mischievous at this juncture. Sara’s dad Saif is very close to Zoya’s brother Farhan. If Sara wants to be in a film produced by Excel Entertainment (Farhan’s company) all Saif or Amrita have to do is ask.”

As per earlier reports, Ranveer Singh would be playing a rapper in Zoya Akhtar's musical Gully Boy. Now, according to a famous magazine, Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh's daughter Sara Ali Khan could also be making her debut in the musical.

A source close to the film unit told to the magazine, "Both the producers, Farhan (Akhtar) and Ritesh (Sidhwani), along with Zoya, have been in talks with Sara for a while now and they are almost in the final stages of discussion. Gully Boys could well be her launching pad."
